Two Tone Jagmaster Project Finished Pg. 2
I got this body from Warmoth and routed it for a bridge humbucker. It is on it's way to copacetic to get a split paint job.

The idea is to paint it like this:
To make it right, I needed a pickguard to work with that, so I asked Sweetfinger to get a split pickguard made for it. This will just have a single bridge pickup and a just volume and jack.

Re: Two Tone Jagmaster Project
While the body is off being painted and the pickguard is being made, I decided to work on the neck. I got this neck from smalltownsongs. (AMAZING guy who I actually buy a lot of stuff from here.) It is an Allparts CBS Strat/Jazzmaster neck. Kind of perfect for the Delonge vibe I was sort of inspired by. It was already finished with a nut and tuners. I was going to leave it as is, but my mom was puzzled that I wouldn't do something with the headstock to make it match the two tone body. It ate at me a bit until I decided she was probably right. I didn't want to mess with trying paint over the existing finish, so I used acetone to remove all the paint. Then I went ahead and dyed the back and sides amber again with Stew Mac amber die. I used acetone to wipe off some of the dye where you would play more to make it a bit lighter than the other areas. Some like to do this with a pretty hard line at the top and bottom, but I prefer it to be more gradual and faded into each other. I left the headstock face alone so I could use paint to do a headstock design. This is how the dye work looked.

For the headstock, I want to sort of use the Sawao look. He has a signature Cyclone in black and white split and this is how Squier did it.
Rather than the curve at each end, I am just going to simplify it to a straight line. I sprayed the white first and Sunday I will tape off by the tuner holes to spray the lower black part. Hopefully the tape doesn't rip the paint up. I am trying to make sure it is good and dry before I do that step. For now, it is taped up and drying.

Re: Two Tone Jagmaster Project
Headstock has the color on and I am letting it dry now. The line ended up pretty clean. Not perfect, but better than I was thinking it would honestly. LOL I need to let it dry so I can clean up the sides to be able to put clear over it.
I put my strips of tape over the area I wanted to stay white and then did three coats of black. This was the first one.

Then I carefully pulled up the tape while the black was still sort of wet (I waited ten minutes) and I think it is pretty good.

There are some little specs in the black. Hopefully once dry, I will be able to wipe that stuff away.

I love this!!! I have always wanted black and white two-tone oxford shoes, like the ones all the gangsters wore in the 50s movies. I love this guitar concept. That headstock looks insane! This Are Two Tone.

Re: Two Tone Jagmaster Project
Thanks! The custom guard being made for it is going to seal the deal. I also have a white humbucker with black slugs for it just to go over the top. It will have a black or chrome knob. I am not sure yet. (Probably black.)
