Air Miami - Me. Me. Me. reissue
Pretty stoked on this in that my CD copy is buried somewhere in the “archives” and it’s finally on streaming services.
One of the best records of the 90’s IMO. Unrest is great too, but I rarely want to listen to one of those albums all the way through.
Really tempted to pick up the vinyl or the high res files.

thanks for the tip! it seems to be an expanded edition too, with some of the B-sides mixed in throughout. super fun record, i'll definitely buy this (again)

Hey hey hey I got it World Cup Fever ….
Love this album so much. I think we have all the singles already so will look through the track list to be sure.
Weird how three bands all broke up (unrest, Jawbox, jawbreaker) and then new versions were all airline related (air Miami, burning airlines, jets to Brazil), all within a couple months of each other.

Where does J. Robbins find all of those amazing drummers?

I have never heard of any of the bands in this thread. Three songs into Me. Me. Me and I’m in love. I hope the rest of the record is as good. Thanks so much!

You’re welcome! Hope you like the rest too.mediocreplayer wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 10:47 amI have never heard of any of the bands in this thread. Three songs into Me. Me. Me and I’m in love. I hope the rest of the record is as good. Thanks so much!
This is one I often go back to for guitar tone inspiration. So many cool and interesting sounds happening.
Unrest (Mark and Bridget’s previous band) is not dramatically different, just a bit less pop and more experimental.
The Teen Beat Records compilations are a good place to start for further listening.

Unrest is so great. They can get pretty scattershot / experimental, but they're consistently interesting. They got poppier later on (Imperial ffrr, Perfect Teeth). Mark E Robinson (no relation to marqueemoon; although Mark E Moon would be a great stage name) is the teenbeat label guy (owner, designer), and his various projects are all good (as is the label). He did a number of effectively solo records under all sorts of names (Olympic Death Squad is the standout). Versus is still an all-time favorite (The Stars Are Insane, first ep and later stuff).marqueemoon wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 12:58 pmYou’re welcome! I still feel lucky that one of my roommates took me to go see the Unrest / Stereolab tour in 1993 (I think). Amazing.

I love Versus so much. Definitely a major inspiration for my own music. I got to see them a few years ago at a small venue here in Seattle (my third time) and they tore the roof off the place.
Also a big fan of Mark Robinson’s design work.

Re: Air Miami - Me. Me. Me. reissue
Was big into the Teenbeat stuff way back when, particularly Unrest and Versus. Was lucky enough to be in Seattle on business in '99 and checked the concert listings (as one does). Who should be in town at the Crocodile Cafe but a certain Mark Robinson and Versus! Also got to see them do TSAI in its entirety at the Teenbeat 20th Anniversary, along with Unrest and Flin Flon (super awesome Mark project).
+/- is great too, which feature James and Patrick. Really tight, interesting, incredible stuff. Back on topic, though, looking forward to this re-release, haven't heard it in years.

Re: Air Miami - Me. Me. Me. reissue
listening to it now, i realize how close Me Me Me is (in original form) to being my very favorite album of the 1990s.mediocreplayer wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 10:47 amThree songs into Me. Me. Me and I’m in love. I hope the rest of the record is as good.
this reissue sounds terrific, and i couldn't be more surprised and delighted that it's being reintroduced. the added songs are kind of like speedbumps though, breaking up the pace and flow of what was, to me, a perfectly sequenced record.
the tracks are neat in themselves, i just wish they were tacked onto the end -

Agree about the extra material. It messes with a great album sequence.dc wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 9:25 amlistening to it now, i realize how close Me Me Me is (in original form) to being my very favorite album of the 1990s.mediocreplayer wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 10:47 amThree songs into Me. This is one of my favorite kinds of albums. I love when a scrappy indie band gets a little more of a recording budget and takes some chances.

Re: Air Miami - Me. Me. Me. reissue
Air Miami was amazing, saw them a few times and I have the cd/og vinyl but the allure of the reissue is real! I think that Flin Flon was also really amazing, i saw them at the teenbeat anniversary show in DC with like Versus and Tuscadero in 2005 or so, I miss that label and that sort of music.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 8:02 pmPretty stoked on this in that my CD copy is buried somewhere in the “archives” and it’s finally on streaming services.

I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.
