You don’t get it: you can clone your own New Order with it... 😉

Must say I'm really enjoying playing this thing... may need to start a sound system.

Well it would appear I now have a melodica collection:

Was talking to my cousin about the weans buying me a melodica for my birthday (after I explained what it was) he told me he had an old one in his garage he'd had from when he was a kid (1970s) - which he's very kindly given me needs a clean / service - so I'll need so work out how you do that as the inside looks a bit dubious.

Took it apart and cleaned it last night... and glad I did the inside was boggin, I found the remains of a 1980s spider. Keys are still a bit discoloured but it's all clean. And I had to replace the bit of foam that separates the mouth piece from the main chamber as it had totally degraded and was crumbling.

I found an original Hohner one at a flea market last year and it’s so much fun! I like that it can be both a toy and a „real“ instrument, and it was only 5€. A vintage instrument I can afford 😉

One of those: Image

They’re great for drones, too.
You're a braver soul than I to be putting something unsterilizable from a flea market in your mouth.

I've played plenty of used woodwinds before, but only with my own mouthpiece.

I cleaned it with some ethanol, seemed to be enough.

But what about the spiders lurking inside it...

I think it was Ian Curtis who introduced the melodica into Joy Division, long before Barney did in New Order.

here is a song my family did live in studio when my kids were about 8 or 9...

my daughter is playing the melodia...it's such a nice, reedy, smooth instrument.

If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

That was a lot of fun, Mike.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.
