Things I would like (that are attainable):
I borrowed one form the library to check out why it is such a polarizing instrument (online opinions range from "Best thing that ever happened" to "a toy for rich kids")
After a few days, I can say that is a device that I would be pretty happy to own. There is incredible convenience in picking up something so small, turning it on and immediately starting to make stuff. It is expensive but it is such a super unique tool. My daughter and I kept making up sounds during bed time and it was so much fun. The design is also patently Scandinavian: extremely clean and simple but also very clever.
I am seriously considering getting one.

Holy shit, man. Your library has an OP-1 that they lend out? I want one of those badly, but it would be awesome just to play with one for a weekend.
Currently own:
-Kawaii Digital Piano model with full size weighted keys (my granddad gave it to me after only owning a few years cause he caught the Alzheimer's)
-stylophone
-akai mpk mini ii

-Korg Monotron Delay
-Roland Juno 60 (owned less than 2 weeks, fucking love it)

My next synth will be a Roland SH-2.
I'm going to sell my minikorgs, the Prodigy and probably my Rogue (with newly added MIDI). I love the micromoog so much for bass. After borrowing a friend's SH-2, I think those two will satisfy me in mono synth department.

Hey, can you tell me more about the SH-2 and why you like it? I've been thinking of getting the SH-2 or maybe even SH-09 ...

Well a lot has changed. I still love the SH-2. It has a very smooth and musical sound to it. I don’t think it’s as versatile as other synths but it’s got a great sound. I just got an old Korg MS20 so I’m in love with that atm.
I never really cared for the MS20. I think I must have only played the 2nd version with the cleaner filter. The one I just got has the earlier more aggressive filter and it is a beast. It makes the most beautiful nightmare-ish sounds.

gassing for synths so hard now it sucks, i have 3 beater synths in my basement that get 0% use these days I actually go to stores specifically to play synths now. I am not all that into the guitars I come across anymore, just synths
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

Yamaha PSR-E413 (actually surprisingly decent but nothing special, a rung above usual cheap keyboard sounds) - got it when i decided to re-teach myself piano\keys
Roland Juno 106 - for excursion into synth - has some great stuff in there, but have discovered its not really my thing
Possibly gassing for a nice Nord Electro to replace the two later this year

You owe it to yourself to buy the mellotron app for iPad and plug your Keystep into it (with a camera connector kit, if you don't already have it). Really wonderful app and sounds quite like the real deal.
