67' parts mustang
Ok. I finally picked up a 1967 body to go with my 67 neck.
Everything else is reissue but the plan is to fully restore it.
The old body I had was of unknown origin, poorly sanded and a little rounded on the corners - it looked like this :
Now the guitar looks like this:
I'm a huge fan of Red body with Tortoise guard. The body has an 'ES' stamp too!
The pickups are custom Dimarzios out of a Billy Corgan strat - I don't really like the look of 'rail' pickups but the single coils I had in it didn't really cut it.
As soon as I find some decent single coils I'll be replacing the Dimarzios.

I agree about the pickups - Can anyone recommend a decent set of single coils that sound great clean and dont turn to mush when distorted???
For what its worth, these pickups sound as bad as they look.

Re: 67' parts mustang
that 'stang is cobain-style!
my friend has a 66 red-on-red mustang with duncan JB jr pickups installed
it's a good color combo

Re: 67' parts mustang
all of mine have the original pups, but i hear that the duncan's are real nice replacements.
I dig this guitar though, nice color. I especially love mustangs from this era for the enlarged headstocks.

Re: 67' parts mustang
Buy a nice set of vintage '64-'68 Mustang pickups.
I really like the sound of 'em...especially a pair of '66s and your mustang deserves them. I wish I still had my refin '66. Those pickups were some of the best pickups I've ever heard.
Your mustang is rad. Dakota on tort is

Re: 67' parts mustang
Every time I see this thread, I want to abandon my idea to build a sherwood green/red tort JM and instead buy a Squier Duo-Sonic and refinish it red/red tort.
Stop it, guys. I don't have enough money for both!

I'm pretty sure my mim duo is going to be red with a tort guard now.
