HAPPY APRIL!BTL wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 12:30 pmQuoting myself here to show I jumped the gun. Mid-April is when things should get interesting, not mid-March.BTL wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 2:45 pmI just caught up with my guy this afternoon. It looks like the necks should be off the line in Japan by the end of March, then received in Texas a week or two after that. Allparts will re-box them individually and ship them to me in three boxes of ten necks each. Once I know the net cost of each neck shipped to me, I'll finalize pricing and start a thread in the classifieds.

Maybe they're growing the trees?
I've got the money ready to roll, but it's also fine because I just had to buy a new-to-me used car (due to somebody that forgot that you're supposed to stop when people in front of you stop), so I have been buying parts for that here and there, too.

Good news and bad news...the necks have landed, but most have finish issues. It looks like I'll end up with 2 that pass muster. The rest are getting shipped back to Japan for a re-spray.

Ah, so AllParts caught the finish issues. Alright, so at least they're taking care of the QC. And I imagine it's nothing that would be found interesting for somebody that's going to potentially relic it anyway, right?BTL wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 1:51 pmThey're at Allparts. Re: Allparts D&B Jaguar necks group order (it is possible!)
Forgive me, I haven't been following along closely.
Are there individuals who are receiving the bulk of the order, who will then sell them on to other OSG members?
I would be interested in purchasing a spare one once they're ready, if shipping to Australia is not too egregious.
Thanks

What are the finishing issues? the tint on the binding?

Re: Allparts D&B Jaguar necks group order (it is possible!)
I remember that we agreed on WHITE binding. That is basically looking the same as the binding on my Late 60s Traditional Jag. Not a deal breaker - but also not ideal (at least for one of my projects).CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 2:32 amWhat are the finishing issues? the tint on the binding?
Edit: other than that (and some weird stains on the fretboard) they look amazing!

Re: Allparts D&B Jaguar necks group order (it is possible!)
It looks like the binding itself is white (rather than cream, vintage white, parchment, or whatever) but has finish over it. Could probably sand the finish down a bit on just the binding to whiten it up. I imagine real '60s and '70s Jags had the finish over the binding or did they get taped off/scraped?MayTheFuzzBeWithYou wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 2:39 amI remember that we agreed on WHITE binding. Re: Allparts D&B Jaguar necks group order (it is possible!)
I don't own any vintage Fender guitars - so I can't comment on this. But out of my three MIJ necks two are like this - and the Thinline (the first "reissue" D&B neck, way before the AV65) has a clear finish where the Binding stays white.GilmourD wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 4:45 amIt looks like the binding itself is white (rather than cream, vintage white, parchment, or whatever) but has finish over it.
