Fender custom shop nails Toronado
As a former Toronado owner, I have to say this Custom Shop iteration of the guitar nails it. Imagine if this had been close to the design all the way along.

Re: Fender custom shop nails Toronado
OSG mods. can we please have a counter for "days since sleazy posts the toronadomaster?" because i'm gonna post it again.
it's not mine although every time i post this photo, someone thinks it was me with long hair.
in all seriousness, i dig this and i think i know which famous musician it's going to go to. but i really dig it.
my current main is a squier toro and i love seeing people getting joy out of them. i always consider them to be fender's SG. which is good for me because i don't crack the headstocks on these as much.

Re: Fender custom shop nails Toronado
I love every single guitar posted here. I have always loved the Toronado. If I hadn't found a Squier CV JM, I would've made my JM-type a Toronado. I still kinda want to, just because, but maybe some P-90s?

That's a really nice orange.
I've had GAS for an orange guitar for a while. Started on Reverend Guitar models I've seen.
Eventually when I get back to building again that color is on the build list.
The pickguard cutting in that photo around the bridge is clever.

I expected to love this, but WRHBs and a JM vibrato just make it look like a tubby Jazzblaster.
The hardtail and humbuckers kinda gave it its own identity when it came out. It was before there were a million Fender body shapes copied and pasted with the exact same configuration.

Re: Fender custom shop nails Toronado
As the other Toronado with a Floating Vibrato thread doesn't show pictures anymore - I found this one.
I always liked the shape and almost bought a yellow one when they came out in the early 2000s. Maybe due to John Frusciante's use in the "Can't Stop" video (I now know that he didn't like it). It was too close to my Les Paul (at least spec wise, never held one of the old ones in my hand). Today I wish I bought a white one with that big Tortoise Guard.
Fast forward: I really adore the Mystic Seafoam finish on the Squier - but trying a LPB one in my local shop almost gave me nightmares...it was just so bad. Probably just set up badly or a dull... but still it did something to me - so I still hesitated when one (with some "battle scars" on the back) was offered as low as 220€.
Seeing that Custom Shop model - still makes me curious about one with a Vibrato - either Offset Floating or Les Trem... just something with a wiggle option. Because when I play my Telemaster my right hand always ends up looking for the vibrato arm.
And looking at the high end OSG builders like Dan's GuitarForm and Copacetic Custom's Feel Good Guitars range - that both include customizable Toronado shaped guitars... Seeing them next to other cool shapes (like the Feelgood "Typhoon" which is a Toronado type guitar with 25,5" and an Offset Vibrato... next to the Death Caster (Power Caster with Offset Vibrato in either 24" or 25,5") or Dan's Customaster - I always dig the other shapes and their overall appearance waaaaay more.
...I might have to go around in circles a few more times before I buy or build either.

I had a white one (and two black ones, at various times, all went back into the trade machine).MayTheFuzzBeWithYou wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 2:15 am

The big tortoise guard just made the meatball tort that much meatballier. And none felt as cool/right as an SG (or LP) or Jaguar/Jazzmaster, kind of missing the mark on both ends. Wish I’d kept the white one as it was somehow more elegant than the black. Fender Blender/Rhodes knobs were a nice upgrade.

22 Frets--Is the Toronado a shortscale, or does this one just have one of those silly extendo fretboards?
