This Greco is stunning!
Knew about the Super Real Jazzmaster, didn't know it was available in this colour. Now it's all I want
1980 Greco JM-700 / jazzmaster sonic blue https://reverb.com/item/73520695?utm_so ... t=73520695
Anyone got one? What colours were available? I've now seen white, sunburst, candy apple red and this sonic blue.

And it sold. Crazy eh.
I guess if you buy into the history and see it as on a par with vintage Jazzmasters.....it's probably still far too much

Never heard of a Sonic Blue one, but 4k is far beyond ridiculous.

Re: This Greco is stunning!
maybe it's just me but i have owned several japan-made guitars in my life. perhaps bizarrely, i have never opened one up, found crack hidden inside, smoked it, then listed that guitar on reverb dot com for four figures in order to buy more crack. maybe i'm the insane one!

Cannot stress this enough.... someone has paid £4k for that Jazzmaster!

Makes me feel stupid for selling a CIJ Jazzmaster for like 600 bucks ten years ago.

I know people who specifically collect rare Japanese vintage replicas from the early 80s. If you want one in this color and it never comes up for sale, you either pony up the 4K or move along.
Personally I woulddn't pay that much, but I don't collect these guitars (somebody who does must have pulled the trigger).

I bought my CIJ Jazzmaster about 5 years ago for £600. Couldn't believe my luck at the time, even more so these days. Not that I'd sell, so it's irrelevant really!BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2024 9:40 amMakes me feel stupid for selling a CIJ Jazzmaster for like 600 bucks ten years ago.

Re: This Greco is stunning!
I bought my AO Jazzmaster around 4ish years ago, and had options of an AV65 for £1200, a Roadworn for 700, and several 60s Lacquers for around 600-800 man - CIJ/MIJ seemed to be around the same. Prices went a bit mental, but they seem to settling a wee shade which is heartening. This Greco is beautiful, but 4 large in my opinion is fucking mental. I know it sold so fair enough, but still.

And mind you, there's nothing in that ad that would even remotely confirm that the finish is actually original - or that the guitar even is a Greco, for that matter.

Re: This Greco is stunning!
Well, except that it has the original store sticker:
It's also the front cover of my Greco electrics collector guide:
and is documented there
(the text is basically "Fender Jazzmaster copy Super Real Series started in 1980. Pickup / bridge / tremolo unit ... small headstock with matching paint like original models ... Surf Green finish ... logo reads SUPER REAL".
So it's possibly originally Surf Green, not yellowed Sonic Blue as the ad claims. Seems that the pickguard has been replaced, I think all their JM colours came with tort at the time.

Super interesting info, thanks.
I see Gas Station Guitars has a red one for sale at £2500. Looks to be the same guitar they had in 6 years ago, so definitely a rarity.
