I am trying to decide which one to buy: this one (Fender MIJ Trad Late 60s Jag) or the Vintera Jaguar?
Can anybody give me a quick tip which one is preferable?
As someone who owned both (basically sold the Vintera to fund this beauty) - I have to say the MIJ! The neck feels so „at home“! Pickguard is also a perfect match for me (while I had to exchange the Tortoise on the Vintera to Mint (or Black) to have it to my liking)
They also have the „regular“ traditional models (e.g. Lake Placid Blue) without the Blocks… I can‘t remember if they were with or without binding. There was a leak of something else from Japan in Sherwood Green (was it a JM or a Jag?)
The Vintera is great too. No question. Ocean Turquoise is an amazing colour! …but the lack of binding, the screw in trem (also the sometimes even reddish Pau Ferro if that matters to you - fretboard feels great otherwise) and the fact that I wasn’t really bonding, not even after one and a half years (while haven’t done anything irreversible to it - so it kept it’s value) made me give it up rather easily. A plus on the Vintera would be the already drilled hole for the Mute. Neck felt a bit more chunky.
The Bridge Pickups are a little microphonic on either model.
Both profit from bigger strings (beware of the F tuner‘s small machine holes) and maybe a Staytrem - but I didn‘t have to do much on either.
Any (more) specific questions?
