*ITS HERE!* 63 Franken-Tele
So, some old guy has offered me this. (apparently) '63 Tele body, early slabboard JM neck, b-bended, lots of mods, beat to fuck:
He's asking £1000
I have no idea if that's reasonable.

Re: Urgent Vintage Franken-Tele advice needed please
Wouldn't the neck alone be worth that much?

That tortoise and neckplate would probably already earn you back a good part of that guitar.

Give him the money, grab the guitar, and run.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Yeah, when I started adding up the parts after I posted I was thinking it might have been a dumb question. I was just second-guessing my gut feeling because of how messed with it is.
I can't go grab it until Sunday, he has promised to hold it for me.
I will report back

This is like those stories where someone discovers an abandoned garage full of vintage cars.

Wow!!! Surely this is a no brainer!
That neck alone should get you close to a grand even though it's pretty fucked!
Actually, if the neck already has a non-original decal I'd imagine cleaning it up properly & adding a repro decal wouldn't change the value much. Pity about those tuners though.
No neck stamp too. Could be a '59.

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Looks like a lot of fun and easy worth the price even with some of the issues.

Also whenever I see a guitar like this, I have to assume someone LOVED it for it to be that worn and modded. People don't play the shit out of crappy guitars. Those closet classics make me hesitant more so than the ones that look like they were played for a million hours.

Also, what's up with that guard? Looks like fender vintage tort all the way but I didn't know that there were ever telecaster tort guards.

That's a very valid point. It's almost certainly vintage - just the pictures say enough there. And the tort colour is primo early 60s....but ive never seen it outside of modern times
