Fender "Panorama" Tremolo System -- American Performer II Jazzmaster
.
Anyone know more about this trem? Released "today"....
"an intriguing new ‘Panorama’ Jazzmaster tremolo system, which promises Strat-style dives as well as classic Jazz wobble"
Cross-sections/internal comparison photos/what changed internally?

The American Professional II thread is here:
http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vie ... 6&t=117191
The Panorama Trem is talked about there.

I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

I went through eleven pages of that linked post and nothing except guessing.
Closest so far is this partial guitar dismantling.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmDP9oSxhwc
trem: replaced pivot plate with a pivot pin and three blocks.
Pickups: Slightly taller but not as tall and narrow as the prior American Performer "1" JM model.
Ryan was confused on how the controls work. Push-Push is bridge coil-tap for classic JM bridge output up, higher output down. Rhythm circuit switch is move to series instead of parallel pickups.
Edit: Eventually page 13/14 of that thread added the trem updates

That is not the bridge, that's the tailpiece.jvin248 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 10:56 am.

A good thing, this is. Maybe, we won't derail it this time, lol.

I'm impressed. These seem like a genuine improvement. I don't care so much about the new screws placement. It makes more sense, but on the "old" ones, you just turned them around. The increase in pitch bending range, on the other hand, could be very useful. Plus that collet improvement to stop the bar from swinging about is welcome too. If they do sell them separately (and why wouldn't they? It's not a custom shop model) I'm getting one each for my JM and Bass VI. I expect there'll be loads of AVRI trems offered in the sale section as a result.

I really, really appreciate the extra range these have. Would anyone happen to know if it's a direct replacement for the existing trem units?

I bloody hope so, they're a nightmare to get hold of in the UK for less than stupid prices.Sauerkraut wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 2:27 am. I expect there'll be loads of AVRI trems offered in the sale section as a result.

I guess we have to rebuild the thread, since most was lost in the site crash.

It's a clever set of mods and a big improvement over the original trem.
Because of the increased performance .. I'm suspicious the price will be bumped a lot higher than the basic components and assembly time increase may create. But if the orders for the guitars and the replacement trems are high enough Fender will make enough on the volume efficiencies to cover that.

Here is the trem chart from Ryan's video linked above. This shows how far several terms can dump the tuning.
... How long before someone comes out with "well the toan must change because it's not a 1950s design", lol.
However, it's a rotating pin instead of a knife edge so if not maintained with lubricant there is a possibility for drag and failure to return to pitch. So field testing will be important.
If someone who has one of these guitars knows how to play EVH Eruption ... do it on this APII JM trem for a video.
Or what would be the song to prove this trem can 'do everything'? That could be fun. Replace some shredder Floyds ...

I just thought of something. Jaguars already have a slightly deeper dive range than a JM, due to its scale.
This will make a Jaguar dive even deeper.
I am excited for these.
