Hell yes, dude. I'm craving getting back to just playing and writing music. Even as a kid, I never had lofty dreams of being a rockstar, but I always loved writing my own terrible music The girlfriend's daughter is also VERY musically inclined, and at 12 years old, she can sing and play drums well, plays the oboe in the school band, and is learning piano/keyboard and guitar. She LOVED messing with my synth, and she was excited yesterday morning when I showed her the video of the drum machine I ordered. She says she wants a drum kit, and if I can pull an epic piecemeal set together like Sleazy, she and I are gonna jam like crazy. Good stuff coming up musically!StevenO wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 9:58 amI'm not really a Tame Impala aficionado, but it just kind of reminded me of something they/he'd do moreso than what I was going for originally. Fun, in any case! Not sure what I'll make next, but I'll have fun with it anyhow.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 11:12 pmI've never listened to Tame Impala, but I like this a lot!! It reminds me of something I can't put my finger on, but definitely good!!!
I love all of the Arturia stuff I have played, so I have no doubt the Drumbrute would be great as well!Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 12:42 amJust ordered an Arturia Drumbrute Impact with a little of my tax refund. First drum machine!!!

I wouldn't be surprised! They both have that retro-futuristic space pop thing going for them.nanamour wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 10:23 amSounds good StevenO. I remember reading an interview with Kevin Parker eons ago where he cited Air as an enormous creative influence...sounds like a case of convergent evolutionStevenO wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 7:30 pmHere's another little track I banged out earlier. I was originally going for an Air "Moon Safari"-style vibe, but I think it came off a bit more Tame Impala-like. Anyways, you be the judge. Same gear. Juno 106, Model D, Sh-01a/Sh101, Hall of Fame Reverb.

I'm still on the list for the KARP 2600....my delivery date is way off in June though. I suppose the current situation will have a bearing too. Will have to wait and see.

Thanks, J!
I also did another track, but there's no synths on it. Just Mellotron, Opitigan, and nylon string, so not sure if it exactly fits in here...

Do you actually have a Mellotron and/or Opitigan? Or are these virtual instruments? The guitar sounds superb also. So do the birds. It's all delightful.

No, I wish though! I actually recorded everything using iPad apps going into GarageBand on my laptop, except for the guitar which is just me playing into a little voice recorder that has a stereo condenser mic built into it.mediocreplayer wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 12:50 pmDo you actually have a Mellotron and/or Opitigan? Do it! I write and record all of these in about an hour or so. It's tricky, but also liberating in a Tv Show cooking challenge kind of way. Just have fun with it.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 1:37 pmVery nice. You are really inspiring me to just make some music Sunday

Re: The Synth Thread...
I like that, the "cooking show challenge" mentality. Give yourself a time limit or some other sort of limitation to make sure you don't spend all day on something that doesn't go anywhere, if it doesn't, or that you don't get completely sick of your creation if it's awesome. I might do that tomorrow. My drum machine came in yesterday, and my girlfriend's daughter and I played with it for a few (mostly to make sure it was working ok) and it was awesome. I put my synth away for the time being, so maybe I'll make some little drum loops and then play some guitar over itStevenO wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 3:23 pmDo it! Re: The Synth Thread...
i set myself the restriction of having a release out before i am done my staycation. i had intended on taking all of the upcoming week... and here it is! 7 days early
recorded in under a week on mainly an elektron digitakt on a forced staycation during a worldwide pandemic.
musically quite inspired by thom yorke and autechre.
a big departure from previous material. i tried to not give myself too many restrictions, and i wanted to avoid overthinking things.
gear used: elektron digitakt, nord lead 2, nord modular g1, fender telecaster.
