Well said!Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 12, 2018 11:13 pmIt wouldn't bother me if the guitar played well, but I wouldn't change the decal to a Fender for a more practical purpose: sanding off (possibly through the finish as well) just to glue a new decal on, and then re-clearcoat the face of the headstock, is just too much work. As I usually build my own stuff with Warmoth or other necks, I prefer a name or something funny. I couldn't care less about brand names, because as a lefty, most brands don't care about me.

I don't like a headstock with no logo - so I made my own. Sean has it now, although the logo is probably long gone.
I'd never pass a guitar off as something it wasn't - it cheapens the guitar - in the same way that its better to wear, say, H&M jeans than fake Armani.

sadly it fell off. i was doing a little machining to get slightly larger locking tuners on it. i kept the headstock natural for a while but it looked jarring as all hell so i blacked it out.NickD wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 3:57 amI don't like a headstock with no logo - so I made my own. i tend to black out most my headstocks because i like the look of it matching with the pickguard more than the headstock. my friend however has been begging me to get decals made because in her mind "it looks ugly and boring" so i told her if she ever wants to pay to get 6 or so decals made for me in various colours and designs, be my guest.
the jankmaster will have jankmaster in block lettering then where the synchronized trem decal goes, just the word "BROWN"

I've got more of the decal that was on that guitar (although it would look a bit weird now its yours, being my surname and all) - decals are pretty easy to make if you have access to a laser printer and sellotape.

I found an Affinity Strat at Goodwill with the logo sanded off. Kind of amusing, because nobody would sand off a Fender logo, so it's still obvious what it is. Squier makes some great stuff and there's nothing wrong with rocking that logo hard, IMHO.

i think it's a bit of a sad and insecure thing to get into, so would counsel against it, and also be wary of characters drawn towards doing it. dishonesty and self-esteem issues seem to be in it.
it's weird to be ashamed of a guitar you really like and have a good playing relationship with, to the point you would fake it up so people think it's something it isn't.
it's enough that it makes you happy. it's playing its part and serving you well, so you should honour it and respect it for what it is.
it's like having a cat you love and then telling everyone it's a fancy breed it isn't. honour your beloved cat for what she/he is!

But Tiddles really is a Belarusian Pompadour and I've printed up the papers to prove it.

Someone scuffed off the Squier logo and replaced it with an F, on the Bass VI I recently bought. I have paint to match the headstock, and white (HNB-made) Squier logos all ready to go. I'll post pics, once I've set things straight!

I don't care what the logo is as long as it's not ugly...I'd actually rather have a squier logo than a fender logo but I'm not picky on which one it is

I have done it on a bullet Mustang I upgraded in a few different ways. Looks nice, but I admit it is a rather stupid thing to do. I regret putting on it a fender sticker.
I still have the guitar, it has all of the tonez, none of it because of the sticker . The guitar might go though, with plenty of explanations it is a squier, to help fund my recent semi-hollowbody GAS. It will fetch a drop in that bucket of money I need.
Below, it is next to my channel bound strat, actually a fender:
The Mustang turned out really good after all of the mods, I can't decide if it stays or it goes.

Yes, I love this strat, The neck is just about perfect, and sounds and plays amazingly well. That was the first guitar I bought after all of my guitars got stolen. I just got the other day a very nice american Jazzmaster after Sam Ash owned up on selling one of my stolen guitars + pedals and gave me some in-store credit in exchange, which worked out great for me. NGD photos coming soon.
But back to the topic. I am thinking that if I sell the Mustang I need to put a proper Squier sticker back. I did not clear-coat the headstock on top of the fender sticker, so it should be easy.
