Seriously, this is my favorite type of finish - natural wood with a thin finish featuring a slight tint.
My first American fender (FSR nitro stat) has it and is beautiful. The Thurston Moore and Ranaldo jazzmasters too..... If fender made more of this type of finish, I would probably find an excuse to buy them all!

I just received this guitar last week and it made me realize that I hadn't checked in here in a while. Pretty funny to see that it already has its own thread.

Yeah, it's got a lot of potential. I think I'll have some time this weekend to change the strings and set it up, etc. The neck pickup sounds great, but the bridge is weak by comparison. I may try and raise it.

Are you planning to refinish it?

This guitar looks unreal. Check out the color of the super aged pickup covers

Seriously considering it (three-color sunburst, olympic white, or black), but am going to keep it as-is for now to get a better feel for it. I kind of like it as-is, so no rush.

Re: 1964 Fender Jaguar
Just wanted to give people here an update. I really ended up loving this guitar, particularly the neck and the pickups, but the body finish kind of bugged me. I thought about having it refinished, but ultimately sourced an original 1964 3-color sunburst body and just swapped it out. I struggled for a while with whether I would rather have the truly original body on it, but it not be the original finish, or if I would rather have an all-original body that happens to not have been paired with the rest of the parts/neck until 55 year after leaving the factory. Obviously, I chose the latter.
Here's the finished product...

Looks superb!
Buy a new '63 neck and pair it up with the body with pickups and hardware from Ebay and do an aged Olympic White refinish now....
