NGD: Hahn Model C T-type
Chihoe Hahn and Jim Campilongo were talking and decided to make a tele-style guitar that Jim would help design. Jim wanted it to be an affordable guitar, not a $3,000.00 boutique item that your average working musician couldn't afford.
After a lot of trial and error, Jim and Chihoe came up with the Model C , which sells for just shy of $1,500.00US, which, BTW, is less than Fender's "American Vintage 50's Telecaster." They succeeded spectacularly.
Here it is!
It plays and sounds even better than it looks. It rings like an orchestra bell. The top loaded bridge gives the strings (.10-.46) a pliable feel and an expressiveness that, after playing it all afternoon, evening, and this morning, seems unique to this guitar.
Oh, and it smells like a pine forest and you can feel the wood against your skin; it becomes part of you.
And yes, I'll made a video demo, right after I dig out my OktavaMod mic and DWS interface.

You're the telecaster queen of the slab lands and that's a lot of guitar for the money. I like the colourway, which conjures images of a nice beach hut and looks to live in the same aesthetic world as Margaret Howell*. i had a look at their website and I'm quite taken with their detail focus and chaste sensibility which probably crests in this guitar.

Commented on your picture on instagram already, but damn, that looks really great! I bet it sounds and plays as nice as it looks, too.

Re: NGD: Hahn Model C T-type
Thanks gang!
It plays as well as my Kelly Tele, JMJag, and Nelvis (my ECJM).
The timbre is pretty unique, It's obviously a tele-style sound, but more complex.
The Rob Banta pickup are pretty amazing. I've got Teles with Fralins, Lolars, and Duncan Antiquities; the Banta pickups are easily their equal. As I wrote earlier, the guitar has a ringing, harmonically rich sound. There is zero ice pick in the bridge position, but it still manages to be bright when I want it to be. The neck pickup is big and bold, like you'd expect, but it has higher overtones in it than, say, the Fralins in my Kelly Bowery Pine Tele. The two together, depending on your picking style, can be sweet or zingy (like a strummed acoustic).
So far, I've only played it straight into my PRRI. I'm looking forward to trying it with my '65 Vibro Champ, brownface Princeton clone, and Vox AC4HW. I think it's going to play very well with my Strymon Deco, too.

Thank you, David. I like your description of the aesthetic at work here. Simple, but not rustic. It lets the materials speak for themselves.shadowplay wrote: ↑Wed May 09, 2018 10:42 pmYou're the telecaster queen of the slab lands and that's a lot of guitar for the money. Maggie--your collection is so very well curated. I love looking at your photos. Tiny Amp Town is one of my favorite places on the internet. As for the Model C--such a lovely guitar, lovely photographed. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you; and thanks guys!
This one is a real keeper. I've already started to corrode the brass saddles on it.

I'm really loving the look of this model. Love what they did with the pickguard.
Great thread. Quality Maggie gear shots complete with epic Shadowplay post of the month. Good classic OSG vibes.
Would revisit.
P.S. Maggie, you should work for Fender (or anyone really) as their product photographer. Your consistency is what amazes me. Rarely see shots without perfect lighting and framing. No exaggeration.
