great job so far ... but remember just do small sections at a time, do not rush anything and always look/check twice or three times before you cut
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

Thanks! Will do!
It really took me a while to get the chassis right as I was doing all of the cutouts myself (except for the PT). I checked and rechecked the values of the caps and resistors before I soldered them and still seem to have made only one mistake that will require de soldering. More on this later...
There's actually a chance that I will be far enough along to fire this thing up next week. We'll see how I do with my lead dress...

I plugged my PR into the Tremolux speaker cab that I wired up the other day and guess what? It actually works! I'm pretty pleased with myself considering I'd never even held a soldering iron before this project. Again, the amp itself isn't yet together, but the speaker is and sounds darn good. I'd only heard the Weber stuff online, but I have to say that I love it in person too. We'll see if the Tremolux sounds as good with the cabinet when I finish getting it wired up.

my advice regarding the webers would be to use this time while you are building the amp wisely and "run in" the speakers.
Get a guitar cable, plug it into a headphone output, get a female phono socket and wire it up so you can connect it to your speakers, then just tune the radio receiver to a hits of the 70s/80s radio station and have medium volume running through, allowing the speakers to move and brake themselves in.
The speakers will become even more 'alive".
I usually do this and leave the speakers running while I am at work.

Re: 5E9 Tweed Tremolux Build Thread: I'm Doing This!
Thanks for the tip, David! I'll probably be getting my 1/8 to 1/4 in adapter later this afternoon so that I can do this. Sadly, there's no real stereo in my house (we have a Sonos system, which we love, but I don't think it has auxiliary outs) so I'll be running my iPad through the input of the PR which is connected to this cab. Is that the craziest idea?

In fact to save messing around I just plug the gtr cable into one of the headphone output jacks to get the signal

David,
The Weber is downstairs cranking out the hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s even as we speak!
In other news, today, I mounted the tube sockets, speaker and foot switch jacks, peeled the protective film off the chassis, and got all of the board mounted wires soldered in. The only exception to this are my grounds and bus bar, but I'll take care of that tomorrow, when I do heater wire and start wiring the board to pots and tube sockets. I ran out of white wire, so I won't be following my original color scheme to the letter. Oh well...

Thanks for the encouragement and the tip! I'll definitely be putting in a tube chart and labeling the various jacks with the old school label maker we have at the school where I work.

Here's a question: if I'm using a 1/4 inch input (as opposed to an RCA) for my tremolo foot switch, which of the three tabs do I wire to the board?

Re: 5E9 Tweed Tremolux Build Thread: I'm Doing This!
I did the pilot light and filaments today, along with installing the AC cord, wiring in the switches, and hooking up most of what's coming out of the PT and OT. Tomorrow afternoon, I should be able to get the board fully installed if not 100% wired to all of the components. I've been thoroughly enjoying this process! Also, tell me if you see anything stupid in this picture, amp gurus! Also, anyone have any tips on the wiring for the foot switch jack I mentioned in the post above?

This is how much clearance I have between the extension speaker jack and the closest turret! The 1/4 jack never touches anything as it enters the input, but how worried should I be?
A) not worried
B) I should plug the hole for this jack and not fool with it
C) I should relocate the extension speaker jack on the same plane as the regular speaker input, which will also be tight, but for different reasons.

Is there any way to put a plastic shroud around the jack to insulate it from accidental contact? Likewise with the components near it?
This is a signature. If you're reading this you've gone past the end of my post.

Thanks, NoiseNoiseNoise,
I thought about this too. I'll give it some thought between now and Monday (I'm a dad, so weekends are pretty busy with non-amp related stuff) and maybe something like this does exist. I checked over my wiring for the umpteenth time and it looks like I have to pull the board anyway to correct some connections. This would be the perfect time to move the jack up and over a bit...
