This just popped up on my local craigslist.. I'm probably just gassing for an amp and not sure if I'd even like this or not, I'd have to sell a couple of pedals or my bass to get it too which makes it less likely to happen but maybe it's worth it?
does anyone know if this is a decent amp and if it's a good price?

I think that's what Jack White used or uses. I heard good things about them, cheaper and great sound is usually the consensus.
Edit: Ben Gibbard of death cab and rob schnieder of apples in stereo both use 1848
Heres some reviews

Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.

I have two of these. Very cool amps. They're not always the best sounding things in the world but with a little TLC can definitely be made to sound great plus they have a really cheesy reverb that sounds really sick. Sometimes in a cool way though. They can be a bitch to work on as the parts are kinda rats nested point to point with a few terminal strips.

I'd wonder about the transformer repalcement. If it wasn't a good tech that did the work who knows what could be going on there. I would expect you'd have to stick a little extra in to get it in tip top shape electronically speaking. But ordinarily $175 would be a great deal. $200 isn't bad. $225 s getting into that's about all it's possibly worth cnsidering the repair. Imo anyway. Though they are getting quite a bit more expensive then they used to be but then what isn't. I actually had 5 of these at one point (2 with cabs and 3 heads) but I never paid more then $275 for any single one (with the speaker cab) and paid as little as $50 for one head only in need of minor repairs that I gave to a former band mate. Now nice complete head/amp packages are over $500 on eBay I think. The guitar shop I sold my last head to was aksing $350 and it sold rather quickly apparantly.
