Johnny Marr Jag bridge height adjustment screws

Anyone know what size Allen wrench to use? Fender didn't include one with the bridge.

The bridge hight screws should be #4-40, in which case the allen key would be 0.05" (1.27mm).

I used my Staytrem wrench on the stock Marr jag bridge height screws and it fit perfectly.

You could be right that it's 2mm. I think we've had confirmation that some of the other Marr bridge screws are imperial. But it's possible that the height screws could have been chosen to match the Staytrem's. But I can't find that spec anywhere. It's not in the booklet that comes with the Marr jag, and its service manual has not been updated since 2012 ... when it had a different bridge (56mm E-E), and Fender hadn't started including the hex key size in service manual specs.

Yeah I can’t find info either. I just got (and just returned) a brand new Marr jag. I don’t think there were any tools included. But I have two of those little pewter Staytrem Allen keys and I was a little surprised they fit so perfectly. I was expecting a little play in the fit. Who knows

My Staytrem Allen key perfectly fit my new ‘24 Marr jag bridge, 53mm or whatever. I’m going to assume the bridge that comes stock on the guitar isn’t made in the USA so 2mm makes sense to me.

Weird. I’m surprised. It really looks no different than the export models I have in my parts bin. Especially the saddles.

I suspect Johnny Marr wanted as close to a Staytrem copy as possible, including the significantly wider height adjustment legs, and so Fender copied the Staytrem. The Marr service diagram / parts list says the allen key is a 5/64:

And of course if you convert 5/64" to metric, it's 1.98mm.

I have to say I’m impressed that these bridges are made in the USA and that you can get one for $89. That’s not terrible. It’s not worth buying a used Staytrem for $175-200+ on Reverb with these things being available.

I’ll have to re-examine the bridge when my replacement Marr Jag arrives. I really did think it was made somewhere else on the surface. It was just so shiny like a lot of cheaper hardware. But I was impressed with how sturdy and tight it was.

I spoke to John at Staytrem and he said that he did the original bridges for Johnny and supplied parts to Fender for five years at the beginning of the Marr Jag run but he couldn't keep up with the demand from both his own business and Fender and had to drop out of producing the stuff for Fender as a result.

I have an early vintage spaced Marr Jag bridge and you can plainly see what John milled compared up to his regular Staytrem stuff, and compared to the new Marr Jag Fender bridge. Idk if John gets any kickback on the Fender produced stuff, I doubt it but who can say.

To be clear, I didn't mean "copy" as in ripped off. I very much expect that the design was licensed to Fender in some way or another.
