Agree that the brand name is not ideal, but that thinline 4 pickup guitar is a great design

Re: Vintage Guitars- Revo Series
These guitars are designed by Alan Entwistle who also designed the Revelation guitars.
For some reason Revelation went out of business 4-5 years ago, Entwistle then put out a small number of similiar style guitars under his own brand.
He has now joined up with the Vintage brand and has designed this Revo series.
Just by the way the Entwistle brand guitar I have is very good value for the money for a "cheap and cheerful" guitar.
Holds tune well, a nice neck, has a pull-pot to split the humbuckers and a 5 way switching option for varying sounds.
It would make a very good 2nd or 3rd guitar for someone who is just starting to muck around with modding their guitars.
Hopefully the Revo guitars are the same

Re: Vintage Guitars- Revo Series
I can't help feeling they'd do well to have a different brand name - not just a specific series - for these lines to set them apart from the rest of the catalogue, because the Vintage brand name is really a hangover from when they just specialised in cheap and cheerful Fender and Gibson copies and this is something completely different.armensguitars wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 1:50 pmAgree that the brand name is not ideal, but that thinline 4 pickup guitar is a great design

Can't find any clips of these anywhere. Definitely some of the most interesting guitars coming out anywhere for non-silly prices.

It's called the ATN-5 circuit and is meant to be the same thing as an Artec QTP passiv tone filter. I don't speak electronics enough to tell you exactly what it does, but essentially it's 2 flavours each of hi and mid-cuts plus one bypass position.

Cool. Yeh the site wasn't too helpful just giving a list of supposed genres. Hi/mid cut tells me what it does.
Shame that green/orange, quite risky colours that i don't like are with the filtertron-like pickups. Would be nice to have a less weird colour on those.

I agree that some of the aesthetic choices are sort of polarizing. As for the switch it's cool on paper, but I had a Revelation RJT-60/12 with one and both before and after I figured out what each position was I mostly kept it in the bypass one. The cut sounds didn't do too much for me, although someone with more vision might find it useful.jorri wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 7:57 amCool. Re: Vintage Guitars- Revo Series
Similarly i probably wouldn't use countless options- I saw a comment on the youtube demo calculating that its 75 options, because more is more. I first designed wiring for my custom jazzmaster with 3 pickups, rhythm circuit and extra switches, now i've gone to the 2 pickups and one knob to no obvious disadvantage. Could be a bit a like strangle switch and rhythm circuit to have this though, if that's useful to someone. Not really to me to be fair unless it was a case of either that type of thing OR a tone knob (I'd probably only use one)...like I look at my Gretsch with four knobs i leave on full and think I don't need these, I have pedals, I'll just use the pickup selector.Ceylon wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 10:45 amI agree that some of the aesthetic choices are sort of polarizing. It would be cool in that way, if the pickups were groups of two series and combined in parallel- I just wondered if they were placed purposefully that way, to make a humbucker, but nothing's mentioned. I think they are some kind of Vox pickup copy I don't know a lot about, but it sounds pretty nice on the demo- something like a Jag I suppose because it seems like a strat-like pickup in a chrome cover. The black one with 4 of those is a solid aesthetic.
I really like the look though, and considering for sure because I looked at a Squier Jag a while back and passed. It reminds me of the teisco/eastwood tg-64 in some way but with an f-hole where the handle is.

I love the Green, I just wish it had a strat style trem like the older REveleation versionjorri wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 7:57 amCool. Yeh the site wasn't too helpful just giving a list of supposed genres. Hi/mid cut tells me what it does.

Re: Vintage Guitars- Revo Series
ah naw...on an offset forum? I'm all for the trem, maybe wish it had a mustang bridge but i've never tried out a roller bridge I was purposely looking for some kind of thinline Jag or something.Dollywitch wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 10:59 amI love the Green, I just wish it had a strat style trem like the older REveleation versionjorri wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 7:57 amCool. The immediate mod I'd do is stick some silver witch-hat knobs with pointers. not a fan of those things it has at the moment.
I think the white is warming on me. Good because there are some discounted ones but guess what, the non-risky (and imo solid looking) black is basically unavailable in those shops hah. The red and orange to me are just odd shades I don't like.

Re: Vintage Guitars- Revo Series
Yeah, it's just personally I already have a typical offset Trem and I've been looking for a main, do-it-all guitar that it came pretty close to.
