Re: OSG Rickenbacker (and Rickenfaker) thread?
My former matched pair: a 1973 Fireglow 4001 bass with checkerboard binding and Toaster neck pickup, and a 1993 Fireglow 360v64 with a pair of Toaster pickups.
I say “former” because I had to sell the 4001 last October after owning it for 35 years. It was my 1st bass guitar. The 360 I’ve had 8 years as of today - 08/15/16.

Johnny,
I thought you put a Winfield Harp on that guitar.
You inspired me to buy one of my one for mine. I haven't put it on yet as I haven't changed strings.
Change of heart? The Rickenbacker tailpiece (while iconic) sucks ass for string changes.

Nope, I never bought one. I think a couple of people here use them though. I have found a technique to restring that isn't too much drama and, to make them less frequent, it now has D'Addario coated in there.JM Convert wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 8:14 pmJohnny,

The Tuna Boat is back. Never reissued because John Hall found them ugly, like a tuna boat, but here it is again: the 4005. With checkerboard binding and the whole shabang... And a pricetag of 5.5k

John Hall not running things is the best thing that’s happened to Rickenbacker in years.
Psyched that these are getting reissued. If only to break Vincent Gallo trying to corner the market on them.

Ohhh. A 360-F would be another awesome reissue if Hall’s not in charge anymore.

I can’t believe a proper 4005 reissue is finally happening.!!! The 4005XC looks stunning, but this is the bass I always wanted (after my Fender VI, of course ) I wanted a 4005 since high school when I first saw Mani playing one in the Stone Roses. I have dreamt of owning this bass. Now how in the world do I make this happen?! I just bought a jetglo Ric 360/12 last month!

Has anyone tried the cheap eBay toaster pickups? Maybe I should have asked around before I bought a set, especially considering I have a pair of legit Rick toasters on the shelf doing nothing.

Re: OSG Rickenbacker (and Rickenfaker) thread?
I'm not one for taking pictures of my guitars to show them off on forums but I recently got my first rickenbacker 6 string - a fireglow 620, a couple of months ago
Absolutely delighted with it. I've had an old 4001 bass for a long time - my dad got it for his 18th birthday, played it for a few years and then lost interest and it was abandoned in a closet until I 'rescued' it circa 2004-2005, and I've 'secretly' wanted a rickenbacker guitar ever since!
The neck on my 620 is very very narrow, probably the most narrow neck I've ever played - And probably, the most comfortable neck I've ever played, too! The narrowness of the neck is an actually desirable characteristic to me - I like 70s Gibson SGs for the same reason.
Next on my shopping list is a matching 620/12

Here are some teaser pics of my custom 360F built by Harry White. It has Vox-ish Fuzz and Repeater functions built-in. I can't wait until it's delivered!

Incredible!
That's the most beautiful guitar I've seen in a while.
