I recently bought an 'almost new' AmPro II JM in Mystic Surf Green to add to my collection, and one thing I noticed was that the 3 way selector switch is pretty sticky and makes a noise going from right to middle.
So, I thought I would get a replacement. I looked at the Fender service diagram and the part shows as 0078433000. I tried searching for that, but nothing came up.
I looked on the Fender site and found this JM 3 Way Vintage Switch. Now, this has a different part number. Is it the correct thing?
I also see things like this Gear4Music switch. Are after market parts OK? If so, which is recommended?
Alternatively, is there an obvious fix for my existing issue?
I know nothing about Jazzmasters, so please be kind!
Thanks a lot.

Id try a squirt of electrical contact cleaner before giving up on your switch.

Thanks for that.
Sorry, I should have said it's physical/mechanical stickiness and noise. The actual switching is fine.
I did try the contact cleaner earlier, but no difference.

Switchcraft is a quality brand but dearer than the ones youve found..
https://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/product ... tch-nickel
Are you wanting to keep it stock?
If not you could fit a 4way rotary.. Would give you an extra setting. Series or Out of Phase

Re: Am Pro II 3 way toggle switch sticky or replacement?
Thanks again.
It seems odd to me that the switch on a newish, hardly used guitar is exhibiting this issue though. I did take the pickguard off yesterday to have a look. Not sure if it was like that before I did that. Is it possible I might have done something? What about something like WD40 to lubricate the mechanics of the switch?
Also, why do you think the part on Fender's parts list for the AM Pro II does not match the one I linked to above?

Ive never tried wd40 on electrics so wouldnt like to say..
Im sure both both switches will work..
Posted the switchcraft link as another option, just because they are solid constuction.. I use their sliders and jack sockets.

That 0078433000 part number in the Am Pro II service manual (TOGGLE SWITCH 3-POS BLK W/HDWR) looks to be just the regular Fender (Switchcraft) 0053694049 right-angled toggle switch but with a black tip - see that part number from old Reverb sale below. Not sure why they spec-ed the black tip when none of the Am Pro II body colour options have black tips. In any case you can buy the standard switch.
