I love the inlays but cannot get with small bodied semi hollows. Lucy plays Jets all the time so I don't know why they didn't go for that.
Edit: The video with Julien talking about the guitar is pretty good, turns more towards her philosophy of making music towards the second half and I really agree with her points.

We have the non-boygenius version of this guitar (with the v-stoptail bridge) in our house and it's a VERY nice guitar, especially for the money.

My knowledge of Gretsch is non-existent, what's the model please?
Good to know the quality is decent, these are only available through their website so no chance to try before you buy.

It’s a Broadkaster Jr, which I believe is the smallest semi Gretsch do. Should be about the same size as a 2622. I played the electromatic and it was really comfortable, sounded good, but surprisingly heavy.welshywelsh wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 6:35 amMy knowledge of Gretsch is non-existent, what's the model please?Dok wrote:Fri Feb 02, 2024 6:03 pmWe have the non-boygenius version of this guitar (with the v-stoptail bridge) in our house and it's a VERY nice guitar, especially for the money.

Thanks. I struggled to find any other Broadcaster Jrs that weren't £££ but that must just be me Googling badly during the quick search I did.
I really like the fact the body size is smaller, not the biggest fan of huge guitars which is why I've never spent much time looking at Gretsch before.

I think this is the first time they’ve used the name on a guitar below MIJ, but as far as anyone can tell the 265x are the same size and shape.welshywelsh wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2024 1:54 amThanks. Re: Gretsch x Boygenius
Seems odd to do a sig for a whole 'band' rather than the artist themselves. Maybe because she's actually the least famous one of the 3 and would have more clout and selling power marketed that way?
Either way, it looks cool and I like the inlays.

They all play guitar, even if not known for Gretsch. But definitely about how the band are going to be more famous than any of them singularly.
Winning a Grammy will open them up to a whole world of people where even Phoebe Bridgers hadn’t entered their consciousness before now.
It’s crazy how these ‘levels’ of fame work out.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

It's the reverse of how it usually works where band members go solo after success, whereas they've left the solo stuff behind (for now).sal paradise wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 2:52 amBut definitely about how the band are going to be more famous than any of them singularly
I'm always amazed how someone like Graham Coxon plays to 80,000 one week with Blur and then a couple hundred for a solo show, when for me he is the Blur sound. Plenty of other examples out there.
