Jagmaster to Jaguar conversion?
I want to convert a Jagmaster into a Jaguar. I only want to carry over the Jaguar metal control plates and controls over. Not the tremelo and tailplate (I still have bad memories of those things going out of tune onstage). I am also putting a Toronado bridge in place of the strat bridge.
How close are the Jaguar andd JM bodies? Will a Jaguar pickguard assembly with plates fit (more or less with tweaks)?
Here is a mockup (And I also want to put an internal amp/speaker):
Has anyone successfully done this mod (not the amp/speaker)?
thanks!

Re: Jagmaster to Jaguar conversion?
Thanks for the reply!
I plan on using an Indio OS20, it looks almost identical to the Jagmaster. I feel less guilty about maining a Jag clone. I plan on removing the tremelo system and installing either the Toronado bridge or modified Tele bridge to cover the opening. I do plan on routing the the body quite a bit to fit the Jaguar controls. Depending on how different the existing pickguard it, I may modify the Jaguar ones or create a new one from a blank.

Re: Jagmaster to Jaguar conversion?
i am 95% sure the tooling used for that indo body is the same as a jagmaster (i have like 5 of them)
i also have a jagmaster that was converted to jazzmaster and i'll say this, it's probably best just keeping this as a jagmaster and saving up for a CV or a VM used.

Re: Jagmaster to Jaguar conversion?
I don‘t know anything about those Indo guitars (like scale lenght) - as there have been multiple versions of Jagmasters (with either scale lenght, 24“ and 25,5“) - do you already have the indio?
Or is this going to be a partsmaster project with neck and body sourced individually?
If partsmaster you might also consider Guitarfetish offers those 25,5“ Jagmaster type bodies (US spec even but no upper cavity and in general less cavity).
Depending a bit on your budget…bodies with the bridge (and cavity) routing you want are out there from time to time - or can be made by some builders…
Alternatives to the mods: you could also always be
locking/decking a Strat Trem making it a hardtail without having to worry for getting another bridge.
And if you just love the Jaguar aesthetic and controls - and just don’t want a vibrato out of (tuning-) safety reasons: you might as well buy one (Squier) and put on a hardtail plate on:
(But even tightening (or removing) the spring should do the trick!)
In case you don‘t like the behind the bridge aesthetic - there are also Tun-o-matic Jaguar models out there (Contemporary) - and even some (I think Jazzmaster models) with the Toronado Bridge (and a Strat jack).
But I don‘t want to talk you out of your idea(s) - go for it if you feel like it this is what you want!
But sometimes you just don’t see the easy route (with no routing involved in this case) because your idea started with the Jagmaster and not with the Jaguar.

That's the one that came to my mind. The Jaguar labeled Jagmaster with (the aesthetical downside of) a Strat Jack.
