Thanks! Those actually came out of necessity. All my usual suppliers were out of white dots. I had to turn to my local model making supplies store, which does sell 1/4" white styrene rods, but those all seem to have a hole in their center from the extrusion process. Thankfully, that hole is dead in the center of the rod. I thought it would be cool to re-drill that hole and stick a bit of black side dot marker in there. It is pretty much the opposite of what I did with the side dot markers on the TFS guitar:

This guitar started life with 2 Lollar P90s, then a few years later it got a TV Jones T-Armond in the bridge. Both setups are great and will no doubt cycle back in. Now some more years later (and looking a bit the worse for wear! ), it's getting another bridge pickup, this time a D'Urbano Firebird. Just wrapped a bit of fake snake vinyl around it, and in it will go....

Today, a Squier Contemporary HH Jaguar got an AVRI trem and a Staytrem bridge. Didn't actually purchase either for the guitar specifically, but thought I may as well use the parts since they've been waiting in the rafters for their intended projects for (quite) a while. Still dialing this one in, but along with 11s it's so much louder acoustically. Should be fun

This one left my workbench yesterday:





Erm. Not an offset, and not a guitar. It is loosely based on the North African guembri, but uses thinner strings and, obviously, is made out of solid wood instead of the traditional hollowed-out body with skin on top. It has a 30" scale length, uses .052 and .042 strings tuned to a fifth (D - A). No frets, but I added fret line markers to the fretboard. Body is construction-grade 'mahogany' (actually an African cousin called kosipo, commonly used in France for doors and window frames), neck is flamed maple (leftover from a bass neck blank) and wenge. The tailpiece is a small section sawn off an aluminum ruler, and the bridge used to be a piano key.

It was a gift for the social worker that helped me get through my personal s**t for a few years. He's had a horrible year due to the increased poverty & mental reforms from our government and I thought he could do with a cool present at the end of it. He's a jazz guy and a big fan of Gnawa music who hasn't touched his guitars for a decade. The cool thing with having no frets is that he can play both western and microtonal music on this thing.

We’re in the process of building our house. We bought several slabs of Monterrey Cypress (2.5”x4’x16’) locally here in Mendocino, CA. Technically they act as oversized trim for our plastered walls (you may see in the photos) but they frame out the large openings well. Well, I thought the wood was so groovy I decided to build a guitar out of it, too. I’ve tinkered around with necks, pickups and pots but this is my first body build.

25.5" scale Mustang body, Fralin Blues Special strat pickups, Dillion Jazzmaster neck, mint green pickguard from CROSS_guitars and other jazzmaster hardware.







This is also my first post so I hope the pictures load.
This page has been a big inspiration for me so thank you all contributors!

I'm a sucker for a natural finish. What finish did you use?
