Re: Sunday Handwired pickups FTW.
Another person to sing the praises of Tim @ Sunday Handwound.
He's made quite a few pickups for me. Firebird under Jazzmaster covers, Jazz/Jag set for baritone, custom JM set for MIJ jazzmaster.
His work is great, very approachable and down to answer questions.
I will say that the custom set he made for my MIJ Jazzmaster made a good guitar into a great guitar.
Also, I don't know what he's doing, but his jaguar pickups sound amazing. Best I've heard.

If I recall correctly (and there's a slim chance of that) he started selling his pickups here before the Reverb store/etc.TaftysGuitars wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 4:52 amI'm new here but wow, it's great to see that Tim is doing well with pickups here.

Adding to the chorus:
I have had a set of Woodies in my JM since 2017 (when he was selling them for $70 a set!!), and have never considered swapping them out. They are extremely good, and even at their current price they remain great value.

All the love for Tim.
Own three sets from him, a set of vintage-correct Broadcaster pickups, some of his A4 Jag pickups, and a set of three custom A3 'mustang' pickups in my strat, and they're basically the three guitars I cycle between the most. His work is flawless. His pricing is absurdly low for the quality, and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Having had a set of the "Woodies" and the "Iolas" (sp?), I much prefer the bridge pickup on the "Iolas". Something about it sounds so good with OD and even clean.
But either way the Woodies are great, especially for the price.

That's just a hotter woody for the bridge and 58/59 for the neck right? That's what I installed for my friend. It is a great set. TBH, that's what i'll probably get.javier-san wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 11:07 amHaving had a set of the "Woodies" and the "Iolas" (sp?), I much prefer the bridge pickup on the "Iolas". I bought a set a few years before he released them and named them “Iola’s”. Great set of pickups!

I have a jaguar pickup in one of my guitars and it sounds really really good. Very articulate! One of my favorite jaguar pickups that I've tried.Daitong II wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 4:29 pmHas anyone used the Jaguar pickups? I may be in the market for these soon.

Re: Sunday Handwired pickups FTW.
I’m going to order a set of these for my Jazzmaster. Spoke to the him via Instagram earlier and he’s suggested 5859s or woodies. Both sound great going by his descriptions, but guess just wondering if anybody has tried them both? I have an AO with the PV65s that came stock currently, I love them but a wee bit thin sometimes, a wee bit muddy and boomy and lacking in articulation sometimes though. So guess I’m after a better version of the traditional Jazzmaster sound haha. I play country, surf, jazzy, ambient type stuff through a twin reverb usually.

Wow - he’s made a website!
20% off is a pretty decent deal, a pity i really don’t need any pickups right now!
