Welp-
Snooze=lose in this case.
I went to order my Fiesta Red XII this morning ...
Out of stock.
I Guess I'll go console myself with the white & blue ones, but DAMN.

There is a "NOTIFY ME WHEN AVAILABLE" button.

Re: Brand New Squier Paranormal 2023
Someone asked about playing a 12 string as a 6 string .... Very do-able. Eminently practical. I highly recommend playing it as an 8 string, with 3 single basses .I'd just have the luthier of choice cut you out a second nut for the 6 (or 8, 9 ...) strings, and save the 12 .... Your gauges are probably different. Mine are, I like heavier strings on my 6 strings.
I played the XII at the store thru a less than optimal amp, as it was digital (a Katana) and the pups were thick, ....
I'd say it would sound better thru the Fender original vintage '65s, which are very light, thin and sparkly.
I bought the Custom Esquire, is at the shop getting a Fender WRHB. The luthier is splitting the coils into a 4way, so I can coil tap with the 3 way switch installed on the guitar already .... The Okume body is SUPER light!!!
On all these guitars, the weak link are the necks. Hard to make a $400.00 guitar with a premium neck. The grain on my Esquire is curvy towards the neck pocket .... The luthier assured me it was going to be fine, and I trust him. If you all can, pick the best neck guitar you can, with grain rings centered at the back of the neck.
I've always liked Esquires, with the single pups. This one makes my third. It's got lots of attitude.

Re: Brand New Squier Paranormal 2023
RASCAL TIME
I picked up my rascal bass bass today. Came in less than two weeks at my local Long n McQuade. First impressions:
- I like it so far. The pickups sound quite good.
- The finish is typical Squier thick plastic but that was expected. Feels fairly comfortable. Not for those who prefer a matte neck.
- the setup is decent out of the box. I need to grab some flats for it and do a setup.
- The volume knob is in a bad spot if you play with a pick and palm mute.
- the pots are the typical mini pots. May be worth upgrading down the road.
- I would guess it’s about nine pounds in weight.
I already have two basses (a mustang and 51-style PBass) and wanted something with a humbucker sound. I like where the bridge is tho I could see it being uncomfortable for some. If you like how a Bass VI feels, you should find the Rascal comfortable.

Do you mind saying how much you paid? I've got my eye on a blue one too and the lowest I've seen around Sydney is $820

I bought mine from Thomann in Germany, they charge AUD660 plus about 220 for delivery, so it’s pretty much the same except I have to wait 10 weeks until they’re back in stock alas.
