Reaper behaving strangely

Post by rhythmjones » Sun Jul 16, 2023 1:12 pm

I have a few projects that I started on an older computer and when I open them on my current computer, audio item fades don't work.

The funny thing is, they work on new projects that I start on this computer...

I could just do volume envelopes but I've already done the work to do the fades on these projects, and there's a lot of tracks so it'd be a huge job.

Anyone have any idea why this could be happening?

Thanks!
- Mitch

Mitch, I imagine you thought of this, but are these the same versions of Reaper? I see Reaper is at version 6.81 at the moment, but for the sake of brevity, let's forget about the incremental steps and just focus on are you using both 5 and 5, let's say, or 6 and 6 on both computers?
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

6 on both but I'm sure the new computer has an updated version...

These tracks aren't THAT old, just from October...

I haven't opened Reaper since they decided my serial I paid for a few years ago was no longer valid and had to repurchase...but my first check would be for an update as they do them super frequently
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

My only suggestion is that perhaps there is a conflict with a fade setting in preferences, since there is some auto options and other behaviour that can be adjusted?

There is an option for auto-fading items when split, that's all i know, and Reaper may be getting confused applying these to your media. I know i had transfer issues before with automation not transferring (different issue) and took a lot of options diving to sort out.

The boffins at Reaper forums are a good place to ask, usually there's pretty in depth responses there right down to knowing tesource code.

Thanks. Yeah, I've asked on the reaper forums and even got Jon Tidey to look into it and no one can figure it out.
