Saw that XII on Reverb, near my ends too. Nice score! I regret letting my 6-string Venus go. Seller's price is a bit rich for my blood though.

He came down more than I expected on the XII, might get some movement on the 6! Given how nice the XII feels I can fully imagine the normal version being an absolute delight.JamesSGBrown wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 1:37 pmSaw that XII on Reverb, near my ends too. Nice score! The Ruby looks awesome. What kind of switching does it have? Can you still see the wood through the paint? I need some close ups

Thank you! The finish isn’t thin enough to see the grain properly, but you can get an impression of it in a couple of areas. It’s a European sycamore body, so I’ve no clue what the grain is meant to look like. Nitro finish, so something to look forward to as it wears.infinity_times_nil wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 1:13 amThe Ruby looks awesome. What kind of switching does it have? The first switch is neck - neck & bridge - bridge. The second switch is first switch only - first and middle - middle only. So you can get all the pickup combinations pretty intuitively.

Awesome. Ruben built me a body for my EGC neck project and I asked him about exactly this switching option. I think back then he thought it is some kind of spaceship wiring
I love it since I first got my Yamaha TVL.

The Venus is in for a set up, excited to have it playing well past the third fret. In the interests of truss rod preservation it’ll be in Eb.
Took a pic today of the back today, it’s not a Gibson special style satin but you can see some textures.infinity_times_nil wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 1:13 amThe Ruby looks awesome. What kind of switching does it have? Can you still see the wood through the paint? I need some close ups
Do you have any pics, that sounds rad!infinity_times_nil wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 11:46 pmAwesome. Ruben built me a body for my EGC neck project and I asked him about exactly this switching option. I think back then he thought it is some kind of spaceship wiring

Re: 2x NGD: Squier Venus XII, Ruby Baritone
Sorry, it took some time to take some, because the guitar is not at my home.
You can see the grain on mine, because the finish is quite thin. He also painted the pickguard, so this starts to show some wear already.
I tried to lower the middle pickup at some point, but it just dropped down and I wanted to look up what's going on there the next time I change strings. Apart from this and EGC being shitty to deal with it is an awesome guitar
Edit: Sorry guys, the images don't seem to show, when uploading them to Dropbox. I need to figure out how to share them later on.

Re: 2x NGD: Squier Venus XII, Ruby Baritone
Just got the Venus back from being set up. Now in Eb because the truss rod wasn't quite as responsive as the tech had hoped, but I hear that this is common on 12 strings of all sorts. Plays beautifully and having an octave G (F#) string is definitely appreciated vs the unison one it had before. Just a fantastic feeling and sounding guitar all in. It makes me wonder about a Venus six stringer, and those new Jazzmaster XIIs...
Looks pretty sick. Interesting neck pickup. I really like how the painted pickguard looks.
I clicked quote and then copied the dropbox link so was able to see it, opened the image in a new tab, then copied the image address, and voila!infinity_times_nil wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2023 4:56 amSorry guys, the images don't seem to show, when uploading them to Dropbox. Congrats. I wasn't familiar with this model. I'm looking for an affordable 12-string and after seeing what's on Reverb I shouldn't have let the name on the headstock fool me.F15hface wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 5:39 amWell, number two has arrived.
Action is sky high so I’ll need to sort that out, but it sounds fantastic from some quick cowboy chordage. Previous owner used unison strings on the G so that’ll need changing too, but that’s minor. It’s also basically mint! Very happy week all around. The sell had a 6-string as well, probably some wiggle room on the price if it’s still on reverb.
