Updated my bass board. Our singer very kindly gifted me the Bananana Matryoshka synth pedal and I finally crammed it onto the board today. It's pure chaos, and I love it. The boost being cockeyed is really no big deal as it's an "always on" thing.

I'm renovating my music room. When that's all done, I'm going to turn my attention to this mess. Really need to downsize.

Finally got around to buying a proper pedalboard for “live” board.
It’s for a covers band that goes the remit of 80s synth pop to punk and everything in between so I’m
Covering a lot of bases!!

What did you do before the pedalboard?
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

One bit of old laminate flooring, one eBay shonky pedal “frame”, gaffa tape, Velcro and a lot of straggly wires!!

FINALLY got round to getting a decent pedalboard again. It’s so nice having space. Gotta get a bracket to pop the power supply underneath & then buy a splitter to make effects loop setup easier.
And just enough room to add a Supermoon. Maybe…

Very tidy! there’s so much to be said for a nice simple setup like this.
However I’m still not seeing a phaser or univibe in your setup…i know it’s your board, but you really should be catering for
my tastes, right?

All you need on there is a cheeky little BD-2 and you could cover pretty much every gig. Great setup. I'm a big fan of uncrowded and purposeful boards. If you look at a large majority of small to medium sized touring bands their pedalboards are relatively simple and unassuming.
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Trying to reduce the number of gain pedals I need
Really happy with this setup. The 1st version didn’t quite work for me. This board is just what I like on guitar- simple things that sound good.

I’m not sure I’d be able to use a phaser sensibly. Although it might reduce the amount of times I keep trying to put chorus on everything…

I get that, however I always feel I like a fuzz is an
effect whereas having 1 gain/OD pedal to grit up a clean setting - or boost a dirty amp - is almost a necessity, a tool more than an effect.
But everyone's tastes are different and needs vary. I don't have any high-gain amps so need a little boost for when I wanna get heavy.

I get it. If I had a bassman, I’d probably have a board of just drives
I like a driven amp, and as I’ve got older I like to turn the gain down, so boosting it seems like I’m trying to trick myself back to overly-heavy tones again.

The Bassman actually gets pretty damn dirty with just a Jazzmaster and up above 7 or 8 on the volume. 6-7 is that perfectly crispy rock sound where you can lighten up on the right hand and be almost crystal clean but dig in for the grit. I only have a BD-2 set as a mild boost/drive to push it for choruses and slightly heavier parts but, for the most part, my hamfisted blasting of the strings with it turned off is more than enough.
Age has also lessened my desire for higher gain sounds. Cleaner sounds heavier, etc etc.
Either way, still a strong and solid board that is more than enough to march forward with. How you use that JHS with the two switches so close together is beyond me though...I'd 100% be hitting both every time if it was under my size 9s
