Re: What's on your workbench right now?
Just did a simple bridge swap this weekend, put a Floyd Rose Rail Tail on the Apple Fritter guitar. I was curious about the Rail Tail since it was introduced a few years ago, but they were expensive so I put it off until MF had 20% off last week. It's a drop in replacement for a six screw bridge, but it still took a couple hours to get it set up.
It's certainly well made and I think it looks nice, but the vibrato action isn't very great compared to better things. Still feels nice and solid anyway, and I got the narrow string spacing which aligns better with the pickups than the original bridge and brings the string in from the fretboard edges a good bit. Probably wouldn't get one again, but overall it's an improvement.

All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

no CIJ has not had a shitty nut, a TOM at some point, non-microphonic stock pickups.

I love that pickguard, I love that paint colour, and I especially love your solution to the problem of having too much blank space behind the bridge.
Never heard of that bridge before. Looked it up and it seems interesting.

I'm not even sure how you can even get a nut cut that shitty. No wonder he couldn't get it set up well
New nut on order. Will have to get back to it when I'm back from holiday.

New bridge arrived, correct spacing and radius. New thimbles installed, body came with a mismatched set somehow. And. I got got the shielding done last night. Time to get the neck shimmed, electronics transferred over to this guard and maybe make some proper sounds.

That shielding looks TIDY.
I've never seen Candy Tangerine in real life. I think I'd like a Jaguar in that colour.

As has been said, this is leaning to the Candy Tangerine side but I believe that has a little metal flake in it for the sparkle.bodhi wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 12:15 pmOooh, nice color! Thanks.
I only went up 3/4 of the way in the cavity since the tape is narrower but I'm guessing it's enough. Maybe? Hopefully?
I replaced the guard shielding with tape, it was a weird plate before, sat very awkwardly on the body and added a ripple underneath. Never seen something like this before.
