i just spent a few weeks on the offset subreddit… whew! what a bunch of toxic dweebs!Embenny wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:14 pmIt's just Loathe fans plus the fact that it's discontinued and wasn't made in large numbers.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:06 pmThe Squire Baritone JM is a fucking anomaly and you know it. It's nothing more than a weird covid-era Ouroboros of unfounded hype that spiralled. They're not particularly good guitars.
It's also weird to imply that buying a Squier Baritone JM was a better financial decision than buying the Offset Special for $350, they've both gone up nearly identically in price over a similar amount of time.
CV, you'll make more friends here by making your point without treating every discussion like you're trying to dunk on whoever you're talking to. That's some reddit/twitter nonsense that isn't common on OSG and feels out of place.

Hey! If you need it.. get it.
I love Bilts "asthetically"
Never held one and have no attatchment/love for the brand name as such.
So.. if i was in love with this design, I would parts build one for les than half the price.
Thread somewhere on here bout swoosh neck builder, plates easy to find, pups easy to find, prob handfull o guys on here could do you a body.
By the way, coool jag

I find this to be absolutely snooze-inducing. Originality is hard and just because Fender got screwed out of trademarking the body shape on a technicality... it still doesn't sit right for me. That goes for all the companies copying strat shapes, JM shapes, whatever - without securing a licensing deal. Drawing it in illustrator and stretching it a bit doesn't count.
I'm far from a Fender apologist (I mean obviously I love their guitars, but there are also a plethora of other amazing guitars out there) but since we're all creative people I do think it's pretty lame to copy or be ridiculously inspired by the original but not change it. I see it as making knock-off paintings. Sure you can paint 'better' but does it make it original? Nah.
A company that I admire the hell out of, actually shaking things up, that IMO has done something really cool is Verso.
I just looked up those Verso guitars you mention, really really like them, such an interesting idea. Being able to move the pickups around is a crazy thought ha. Obviously they’re custom made so didn’t see any pricing info, but if they aren’t stupid expensive I can see them doing well in a niche type of way. Not nearly as innovative, but I quite recently came across a company called Ruby Guitars on Instagram. Really nice designs, and after I’d messaged inquiring about a lap steel the boy seems really nice too, reasonably priced also.
On the Bilt guitar hing, I really liked them when I first came across them but the price is way way to much for me. Nearly 4 grand for anything not vintage or custom made is spew material if you ask me. The pink jag you have is much nicer, in my opinion OP.

Ach, although it certainly isn’t as ‘cool’ or informative as say this forum, I’ve found hunners and hunners and hunners of really helpful content on the Offset Reddit. I try not take these things so seriously man. It’s just folk talking about guitars.hexes wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 2:52 ami just spent a few weeks on the offset subreddit… whew! what a bunch of toxic dweebs!Embenny wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:14 pmIt's just Loathe fans plus the fact that it's discontinued and wasn't made in large numbers.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:06 pm

Just looked at Verso, cool to try something different but it really looks uncomfortable to play.

Aye man, I did think they might be better to be played standing up right enough with the shape and the way the back of the body is.welshywelsh wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 6:58 amJust looked at Verso, cool to try something different but it really looks uncomfortable to play.

Re: Urgent need of help
I appreciate everyone's input and you've all saved me from impulse buying this guitar, mission accomplished! The Bilt still really appeals to me but at this time I shouldn't really be spending that much on a guitar, no matter how smitten I am.
I'm going to hold off buying another guitar until we see where the AVII line goes and if Fender do actually release a Jaguar. My first Jaguar was a Japanese B&B in sunburst, (one of those limited edition ones?) and so it would be cool to go full circle if they offer one, perhaps even in a more exciting colour depending on what's offered.

They've confirmed an AVII Jaguar is due, likely this year

Yup. I can’t wait.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 10:40 amThey've confirmed an AVII Jaguar is due, likely this year
I went and got a CV70s Jaguar to scratch the itch in the meantime. QC was decent. It was the first one I’ve tried that didn’t have sharp fret ends or something along those lines, so I bought it. It’s surf green, which wasn’t my first or last choice, but when you find a Squier with only one thing wrong, you have found a unicorn.
Vibrato is straight trash and will get swapped out first. The rest is fine for now. Nut is cut right and frets are good. Will be gifting the Squier to my daughter, if and when I get the Fender (will be deciding between the Jag and JM).
Anyhow, OP you made the right choice. You already have an amazing Jaguar, by the looks of it. The Bilt is nice, but the price ain’t great for what it is, if we’re being honest.

God, I love the stuff that makes it onto on some of these Japanese guitars. Tokai are the all-time champs, but not the only ones to put fun names on there.
