Woohoo! Finally! Unexpected New Guitar Day
So, besides my Burgundy Mist Jaguar that I‘m working on - I had an unexpected but somehow long awaited NGD (honestly I already thought I would never find one at a not so ridiculous price ever again.
To be revealed once I set it up. So if anyone is still having fun at guessing games, go for it:
Hints:
- I‘ve been looking for one for a long time!
- it‘s kind of a reissue
- it came in some funky colors
- it‘s not another Jaguar
…everything else would probably give it away in an instant.

I think I know what it is... But I'm not saying
I'm glad you finally found one Now I'm curious about what color you found

I was thinking Danelectro Hornet from the description, except for the bit about the price. I doubt they’re going for crazy money, so it must be something else.
I think there were Surfcasters and Framus reissued the Strato Deluxe recently, but I don’t remember crazy colors like the Hornet had?

If I‘d go for a Yamaha it would be the other offset sg (SG-2?)

It‘s the Danelectro Dead on 67 aka Hornet Reissue - in Cobalt Blue.
And yes, I would never pay 700+ which are the current rates (or extreme examples) - but they did get rare as hell. I payed 320 including shipping which was basically the same price as they were when they got out. The Baritone was a bit more expensive. Like 389 or so. I had it in Lime Green. It was basically my first offset. I had the Baritone in Lime Green…some 10 years ago.
I will need a new metal looking foil for the control plate (which got off at some point) or actual metal cut to that shape. I also thought about a string through version of that Vibrato/Bridge construct. I would hate to lose the vibrato function but I guess there would be a better solution for the bridge - which is wonky - but I guess somehow essential to the sound…

Oh, these are super rad! Congrats. I keep looking for a blue baritone every now and then, but they seem to be rare as hen's teeth...
Maybe if you want to do something about the bridge but keep a vibrato, the Göldo DG shorty trem would be cool:
It would fit quite good in the design, I think. You'd have to drill a gigantic hole, though...

Re: Woohoo! Finally! Unexpected New Guitar Day
Thanks everyone!
It‘s a fun guitar for sure. And I got quite lucky with the setup - got intonation quite right at the first attempt.
Also it‘s a very inspiring guitar for surfy/spy sounds. Got to re-check the input jack. But everything else is fine (electronics wise).
Love the „acoustic“ sound of the rosewood - but the arm is the weak point. It got loose 5min after I tightened it - maybe a self securing nut would be key to its stability.
Also D’addario strings are not the systems favorite choice… the low E string hardly fits but the ball end got stuck and it‘s okay for now.
Squid-Les Trem - but I don‘t know if two small holes are really that much better than one big one. But I wasn‘t impressed by their offset vibrato of this new series. Had it on my Eastwood and it just wouldn‘t work in Drop-D.

Funnily I already thought about putting another one of Göldo‘s products on it:

Ha, yeah, the new arm design on the Les Trem is so cool, isn't it? This would also be very nice on the Dano.MayTheFuzzBeWithYou wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 1:11 pmFunnily I already thought about putting another one of Göldo‘s products on it:
