I came across a bargain, I thought for an ovation that needs the bridge shaved down & a battery holder that is unique as it's curved at the very top
Dealer had this a while back & the battery had corroded & swollen up, I suggested vinegar & later that week she got the old battery out of the holder
Fast forward two month & I'm in there again & they have it on the half price table for $114.50
There is one of the springs down in the battery module gone but could remove the thing & solder a spring back in BUT need that battery holder
They LOST IT? I have them still looking but being these are hard to find now days I have to keep looking at Reverb & eBay
If anyone out there has a battery holder for an Ovation with the curved top, PLEASE Contact Me ASAP...
Just another project guitar for the dungeon
I have a Parker Fly Deluxe & a Harmony on the bench currently
The Harmony Strat-O-Tone was bought for $75 by my son & it has a homemade pick guard & has a Bill Larance pickup worth the $75 in the neck position, It has three holes drilled into the top like an ovations sound holes & is mostly stripped on the top & sides
I filled the bridge holes with maple dowels & am going to use one of two adjustable rosewood bridges with threaded thumb screws & will have to inlay the studs in the top, it doesn't have a sound block, I may have to add one & can't get to it well from the control opening or the pickup, but it is possible
Can't et photos to load any longer & don't know why
Oh Well
Gary

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

perhaps he means shaving the saddle?Larry Mal wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 1:07 pmDon't shave the bridge down, Gary.
Or at least know it's kind of a last resort.

Maybe, but sometimes people do sand the bridge itself down, there was a time when I thought that would be a reasonable thing to do, but it's a bad idea and will in time require the replacement of the entire bridge, which is pretty invasive.
Granted so is a neck reset but since that's the actual fix hacking into the bridge doesn't actually make that need go away, you still have a guitar with the neck at the wrong angle.
Sometimes people sand the bridge down to get a couple more years out of a guitar before they throw it away, not sure if I see the point of that.
But I may have no idea what I'm talking about... how is the neck actually attached on an Ovation?

You could always look at 3D printing a new battery holder.
