NGD Vintera 60s Jaguar
I ordered one from GC the other week. I already put a good little nick in it, so I guess I'm keeping it! But, that's ok, because it's a great guitar.
This is my 3rd Jaguar.
I have Thin Skin which is just about the coolest-looking guitar ever. Sonic Blue faded to a Surf-ish Green. But TBH, I don't play it much...I'm not sure if it's the radius (9.5) or the tall frets.
I also have CV in Daphne Blue. I have the same issue with it. It looks nice and does its job...but, I'm just not a big fan of those frets.
I really wanted to know, tho, if I just don't like the frets or if I don't like Jaguars in general.
The Vintera Jaguar is excellent! RIght out of the factory box! It was just about in tune and did not require a set up at all. It plays great and stays in tune with (what I'm assuming are) .9s. I think I will bring it down to the GC and have it set up with .10s (they have always done a preliminary set up on guitars I bought from them for free).
It definitely is a keeper. I've ordered an aged white guard that should be here soon...
But I've 2 questions
The top fret markers are not centered and are quite close to the fret, is this normal? It takes a little getting used to.
It also has a screw in trem bar...again, is this normal?

Awesome score! I've been considering one of these. They look so good.

GC gave me 15% discount...it was less than many of the used ones I've seen.

Congratulations on the new guitar. I’ve been eying up this one for ages too, I love that colour and the matching headstock too. I’m sure I’ve read somewhere that they do use a screw in tremolo arm so that is probably correct.

Screw-in is normal on these models. My Vintera JM also had a screw-in that I swapped out for an AVRI with the pop-in bar.

Yeah, I wouldn't be happy with that. Those fret markers are wild! never seen them that far off before at all
Have they inadvertently used a 25.5" fretboard (or possibly a 25.5" drill jig for the top markers) there? The 12th fret marker looks to be about 3/4" off which would make sense if I'm right.

That is exactly how it looks! I didn't really look at them all the way up the neck...but they are definitely misaligned! lol

Re: NGD Vintera 60s Jaguar
I contacted the rep at GC and sent him a pic. He, too, thinks it's weird. But since it came from the warehouse in a factory sealed box, I have to contact Fender. I will...but to what end, I don't know. It's still a pretty good guitar.

Re: NGD Vintera 60s Jaguar
Beautiful. Congrats!
The vintera 60s are specd great IMO.
I’m with you on the tall frets, can’t do it, don’t see how they’re so popular.
Pau ferro has really grown on me too. Enjoy it.
Maybe fender will send you an extra neck to make up for those markers. That would be really sweet if they just shipped out a replacement and said to just keep the other

Wow! Nice collection! That XII is!
Also finally your beauty of a Jazzmaster got a sibling to play with.
For the markers: Fender should replace the neck - and if you are to keep the other...mod it to have Binding with correct markers.
I love my Vintera 60s Jag very much too! It's her 1st Birthday (with me) soon... I think in a week or two! :-)

don't get me hopeful! I'd definitely put it on one of the Jags with the tall frets!sugarandopium wrote: ↑Mon Jun 20, 2022 7:05 amBeautiful. Congrats!

Re: NGD Vintera 60s Jaguar
That's a really curious mistake with the fret markers. I've got the same model and mine line up right. I'd have thought there must be a whole batch that are done wrong unless that bit's done by hand and someone just had a brain freeze while doing yours.
Given it doesn't impact playability I guess it's a judgment call on how much it bugs you and whether that 15% discount makes up for it. Given the matching headstock I can imagine a replacement neck would be complicated to offer as a solution. Will be interesting to hear what Fender comes back with.

Re: NGD Vintera 60s Jaguar
I love the OTM and matching headstock. I think you have a good shot at a full exchange if that's what you want. Certainly for another neck, but it wouldn't surprise me if they opted to exchange the whole guitar. Even with the ding. That is a straight up defect. It just depends on if you are o.k with the possible wait.
