I love ESP
I think ESP FRX are among the coolest with that fancy shape, all carved and beveled. Never seen anyone in the US play one, though.
This one's got a slick blue/purple color shifting Andromeda II finish and some Bare Knuckle Painkiller pickups. I'm not big fan of Bare Knuckle, but these work pretty good, and split pretty good, too. Fantastic guitar, top notch all around.
The only thing that could make it better would be if it was a true neck-thru with a thinner profile all they way down to the 24th fret. It still has a decently contoured heel anyway.

Re: Any love for the ESP FRX?
I remember you talking about scoring one of these and I went down some rabbit hole of what they were. This is some serious deep-dive Japanese stuff. It's like Japanese-anime-gothic or something.
Can't say it's my taste or style, but I am happy that it's out there.

Re: Any love for the ESP FRX?
I've only seen the budget LTD ones in person- I wasn't impressed, though I do dig the shape.
Not for my usual me, but maybe for an alter ego situation. Dress like a big shiny beetle with an elaborate horned headdress kind of thing.
The flip-flop color job fits the same feeling- I'd never have it on one of my 'real' guitars, but it might be fun to try to be 'that kind' of player for a show or two. Maybe.
I'd give it a whirl if I came across one in the wild.

Yeah, offsets are so mainstream now, I wanted something that would stand out a little more. The finish on this one is so striking, it just blows me away. Here's a couple different angles:

I think ESP has become my favorite guitar company of the last few years. These are just so incredible, I can't understand why they're not more popular.
Here's a "cast metal" Andromeda finish. I guess they splatter some filler or something on it to give it a textured surface. I don't necessarily recommend it, but they do a good job with it. The finish is nice and glossy, and still does the color shift thing properly. It's certainly a unique look. The back of the neck is left smooth.

Re: Any love for the ESP FRX?
I too see the allure of ESP, but I can see why they aren't super popular in the US. They make Strat/Tele/Les Paul variations (mostly geared towards shredders) and they make straight up shredder guitars. I don't think that's where the main focus of music playing is in the USA right now, (but I am old and out of touch).
Their LTD line seems to have a solid number of affordable interesting guitars too. But there are also Ibanez and Schecters that seem to occupy all of those same spaces of shreddy/metal/nu-metal/ etc. guitars in the guitar catalogs.
I was looking at ESP Arrows and going through the custom configurations just to amuse myself. They make some awesome guitars and I've enjoyed some of their custom shop videos.

Re: Any love for the ESP FRX?
I have one Ibanez and one Schecter, and they both have very thin necks. The thing that surprised me when I got into ESP, is that their necks are not that thin. Some of them are even girthier than I like. These FRX are somewhat similar to an SG Special I have, but it's a really nice comfortable shape. I can't understand why they call it a "thin U," it's definitely bigger than some of the MIJ Mustangs, Jaguars, and Swingers.

Here's a new color they're calling Glitter Storm Red. This is such a fun color, I think it would be good for a birthday party. They're doing them in blue, black, and violet, too. Here's a video of one being painted.

Not exactly the most comfortable, those extra nubs around the waist will sort of dig into your thigh and ribs. And they're reasonably heavy guitars, at least over eight pounds.

I think it’s a nice design, but not for me personally. They are gorgeous guitars though.

I understand how it is, and it's fine. I know what I like, and am okay being off in my own little world. This thread will henceforth become the "I love ESP " thread where I continue to post awesome ESP guitars that no-one else here wants.
