The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Re: NGD guessing game- what vintage 12-string did I just get my mitts on?
What's the deal with the pickups on these? Are the chrome ones or the black ones the go-to?ryland wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 11:40 amAwesome! Report back on how the pickups sound. I have two of the 6 string versions - a 68 with what I guess you'd call a trem and a very clean non-trem '67. The pickups on the 68 actually sound amazing, very close to a Jazzmaster. The pickups on the 67 are as close to worthless as you can get.
I played this butchered Coronado I a few months ago and though it sounded friggin' fantastic, though I seem to remember the silver pickups being the pariahs?

Also LOL at $1800 for that...

I haven't heard that one type is any better than the other, generally. Both of mine have the black ones. I want to say that it's luck of the draw and that most of them are pretty bad.

Re: NGD vintage Coronado XII CAR! (Unboxing pics coming!)
Arrived neck-off, packed well, and just. Beautiful. My first vintage Fender!!!
The CAR is slightly yellowed to orange in a few highlights, which I am completely in love with!
Here's some parts pics:

Very little wear or play damage, but it is present. Of most concern is the used-to-hold-a-humbuggy pickup rout, which is not quite concealed here by the original bridge pickup (now mounted upside-down for some reason?):

Neck pocket looks good to me... no signs of a refin or other troubles. (Again- my first vintage Fender so go easy if I'm wrong...)

THAT NECK THO!!!!

The neck alone is worth way more than I paid for the whole guitar- I'd hate to be 'that guy' but worst case I hate it I could easily recoup my costs from selling the body & pickups, etc and then have an AWESOME partscaster XII neck for an Oxblood or Paisley JM body!

What a beautiful instrument. That’s a interesting bridge in those that I had never noticed.

Congratulations
I have had two Coronado’s . A six string and a 12 string. The six was ok. I liked it especially the neck while pick ups were kinda weak. The whole guitar missed resonance in my opinion
The 12 string well, it suffered from the same challenges. It never worked for me at least
But they are beautiful looking guitars, including yours!!!!

Aww man.. I would be seriously tempted to do just that!
Especially with the matching radius bridge

Very smart bridge design. The unison strings aren't individually intonatable but the octaves are. One of the best 12-string bridges I've ever seen.Unicorn Warrior wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 9:23 amWhat a beautiful instrument. That’s a interesting bridge in those that I had never noticed.
