Ooh!! Those guitars are looking goof from what we can see. Love all the natural wood, black guard, and chrome plates!
Also, is the pedal a RAT variant? I should really try to have some pedal enclosures printed like that. It looks phenomenal!

This is cruel and tantalizing!
Deluxe transformer would probably provide too high a plate voltage. A standard 6V6 is spec'd for max 350V/315V (plate/screen). That's about how they were run in the tweed Deluxe. In the latter ones, BF/SF, they were run beyond spec at like 415V on the plates. The 6K6 is spec'd at 315V/285V. I'd probably set it up for ~285V on the plates, maybe looking for a transformer that can give me ~450-460V AC.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 8:06 amOh, I'll for sure hit you up when/if I go ahead with it.Dr Tony Balls wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 6:47 amIt's very feasible. If you want I could help you come up with a design. 6K6 need the same filament voltage as a 6V6, they just have lower max plat and screen voltages and put out a little less power. What you're talking about would be very similar to a Blackface Deluxe, but lower voltages.
I was comparing schematics/layouts and it's almost a cut and shut of half one circuit and half another. But yeah, Blackface deluxe-ish, but with Bassman tonestack and diode rectifier. I thought I read somewhere earlier that said they need higher voltages but now Ive just looked again and found some old RCA spec sheets you are indeed correct (no surprise.
That makes life easier then, could potentially just use a Deluxe transformer for it? Might be fun to try and use both sides of that extra 12ax7 so there's the potential for some really thick overdrive if wanted too. The aim being low-volume overdrive, obviously.
Hmm, definitely need to get my brain working (and build the kit that's coming this week to practice).
Gotcha. I'll probably have to sit down and study the relationships between all these voltages to each other so I can understand it better before I get ahead of myselfDr Tony Balls wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 6:28 am

More like raw wood and aluminum plates. I keep things simple for these kinds of projects. But all of the metal plates are my own proprietary designs .Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 6:27 pmOoh!! Those guitars are looking goof from what we can see. This was basically the same concept as what my dream was about, but at the 6-10w mark... all the bits of a big amp but into a small power sectionDr Tony Balls wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 8:33 amAll this is reminding me that awhile ago I set out to create a true bedroom amp. Something push-pull and made with pentodes that sounded like the big boys, but at like half a watt. I didnt fully succeed. I started with attempting to use EF86s as power tubes, and it worked but really didnt sound great. Then after enough thinking and researching I decided to try the concept with ECL84s. They dont make them anymore but NOS they're cheap as chips. Each one has a pentode and half a triode as well, meaning that with a pair of them you could use the triodes for LTPI phase inversion. I alredy had a phase inverter wired up so i'm not using the triodes, but in the future I would. Anyway....blackface-ish circuit at ~2 watts and it sounds awesome. A little loud for bedroom, still, but attenuator or MV brings it into check rather nicely.
agreed. something about them just looks right and they can kinda take any headstock and still look right.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:13 am
Man, I would probably lose my OSG member status if we were purists, but I swear that Telemasters/Jazzcasters are my favorite shape. And a 12-string? Yowsa!
I completely agree. My favorite combo is still yours with the upside-down Strat head. They almost are asking to have something different, you know?s_mcsleazy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:33 amagreed. something about them just looks right and they can kinda take any headstock and still look right.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:13 am

I dunno, I'd go for a Firemaster/Jazzbird first but I'm also a Feeder fan.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:13 amMan, I would probably lose my OSG member status if we were purists, but I swear that Telemasters/Jazzcasters are my favorite shape. And a 12-string? Yowsa!
I'll admit that I don't know Feeder. Which combinations are you thinking? Firebird body with Jazzmaster neck, Jazzmaster body with Firebird head? I think a Jazzcaster/Telemaster like Sean's got here with a reverse Firebird head would be SO good.hulakatt wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 11:10 amI dunno, I'd go for a Firemaster/Jazzbird first but I'm also a Feeder fan.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:13 amMan, I would probably lose my OSG member status if we were purists, but I swear that Telemasters/Jazzcasters are my favorite shape.
