G&L has some good Black Friday deals right now, especially on this one: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... lacid-blue - I'll be damned if that isn't the best money you can spend on a brand new guitar right now.

Also, they have a new model called the Espada that looks SUPER cool, and I'm surprised I haven't seen mention of it anywhere else: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... sonic-blue

This video has the two moderately tolerable guys at Anderton's touring the G&L factory plus getting a look at Leo's original plans for what became the Espada. This was around the time of the 2019 NAMM show when G&L announced it. Also, Anderton's had a special run of sparkle finishes being built at that time. (And you get to see the sparkle booth!)

I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

G&L posted a lot on youtube a couple years ago when the Espada was launched. It’s a cool story and seems like an awesome guitar. I haven’t been in a guitar store in almost two years, so I haven’t seen one in person yet.

Here’s a cool video about a modded SC-1 that Robert Poss from Band of Susans sent into G&L for work.

I’ve played the Legacy every night, I just can’t put it down. The range of tones available is just amazing. There has been some discussion about the advancement of single coil technology in the past year here and it’s been in these guitars for decades.
Between the MFD pickups and the advanced tone controls, these guitars are absolutely the next gen . I don’t feel too badly about my ignorance towards G & L, they are shockingly under the radar and my radar sucks anyway . Of course it came from Leo.

Anyone have a Fallout? How noisy is its P90?

Asking because a friend is looking for a new guitar. He mostly plays an Epiphone LP and uses its bridge pickup almost exclusively, finding the neck pickup too dark and muddy. So we went to a shop together to try out some other guitars and ended up concluding he likes P90s and heavy (weird, I know) solid-bodies, though he wasn’t too fond of the noisiness of the P90s we tried (Epiphone Wilshire). As he also likes Tele bridge pickups and his LP bridge humbucker, I figure the Fallout, with its P90 and splittable HB is pretty much ideal. I imagine he’d probably grow to like its lighter weight over time. There’s several on the German equivalent of Craigslist for €380, which seems like a great deal. Is it? Would an ASAT Special also be a good option, considering his preferences?

Would love to just go and try, but G&Ls are rare here.

I can’t speak to the Fallout but I do have an ASAT Special and yes , it would be an excellent option for your friend. I love an old school P90 and the MFD pickups have all that and more. You can dial in a broad range of tones with them and I find the noise level low enough that it doesn’t bother me , other people are more sensitive to that than I am. I can’t recommend them enough , mine is also on the heavy side.
