Re: The Official G&L LOVE thread!
Sure! Here's my only guitar of theirs:
But what I'm really into is their basses, of which I have four, an L-1500, a Jazz Bass of theirs, an SB-1 and it all started because I bought this L-1000 ("Wunkay") for $65 in 1995 or so:
Baby Max was sure enjoying it some years ago, sadly, it needs a new neck to be commissioned and I haven't gotten around to it yet- that's actually why I bought the SB-1.
G&L makes the best basses in the world.

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Re: The Official G&L LOVE thread!
This started a scant two months ago when I traded a Pro Reverb for an ASAT. 1997 ASAT
After seeing just how sweet these were I knew I wanted one in an offset.
I sold a Honda PC 800 to a local guy, he said it was his dream bike and that freed
up funds so when this beauty appeared I made a deal and got it, 2017 Doheny.
RIORIO put up a beauty in white and I just happened to sell a guitar on Reverb
but before I even got it this showed up local on CL for a steal. 2003 first year Tribute.
That pretty much confirmed the trouble with tribble issue I seem to have caught with Leo.
RIORIO sent me this Comanche Tribute and if you played this alongside the Fullerton
model I don’t think you could tell the difference, they are that good.
I have some used Fenders that I’m sure are gonna gather dust at this point so watch
the buy and sell area, I have a strat and a jazzmaster that I put together and won’t sell
but the great purge of 2021 will continue.

No one will be surprised that I love your sticker. And the guitar.

I've always been intrigued by the Comanche, but have never had the chance to play one. What's it like?

I do not own a G&L guitar, but the SC-1, SC-2, and (more recently) Fallout bass are all tack-sharp guitars that I'd gladly sport alone and in front of other people.
The Kinks - The Fall – The Bad Seeds - Spacemen 3 - The Gories - Royal Trux

Re: The Official G&L LOVE thread!
I picked the Comanche up to try to answer that question for you, first I plugged it
straight into a tweed deluxe and set everything in a middlish position.
It's not a traditional strat sound at all, it's very articulate and full, like
the difference between a regular movie and 3-D for your ears or
a boombox versus a real stereo.
Entirely noiseless and I am sure would record fabulously.
I think the Legacy model with the alnico single coils would sound
a bit more strat like, I have to do a set-up on mine before I can really
get a feel for that one.

So, it's kind of like my ASAT compared to a Tele, only mine doesn't hum cancel. Thanks!!!Scout wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 12:31 pmI picked the Comanche up to try to answer that question for you, first I plugged it

Re: The Official G&L LOVE thread!
1984 SC-3 with saddlelock bridge. Rare-ish, as most had tremolos. A friend gave it to me in early '88. "You need this more than me."
Maple body, maple neck. MFD pickups. The control plate and neck plate have that crinkle black finish. The control plate is obviously flaking off. For, like, the past 25 years. Every ding and dent is mine and well earned. During the early '90's it got covered in stickers which I removed in the early '00's.
In all the years I've owned it I've never done any maintenance. I've never needed to adjust the truss rod or tweak the intonation. Frets got dressed in 2003 along with a new nut. I think the pots got cleaned then, too. It's always in tune out of the bag.
My Kyser capo always lived on the headstock back in the day. That's why it's stained at the end.
33 years and it's still my #1.

I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

I love that SC-3.
What great history, and man, it's a looker!

Thanks!
Your ASAT is the bee's knees. Congrats on that one!
