That is undoubtedly less 1500-2000 I've seen them go for.

Re: NGD - The SG that is not an SG
I remember that one. I may or may not have started searching Reverb for one right after you posted it here... They really nailed the curves on those. The Guild is more like an Ibanez Musician that they shifted to look more like an SG, it especially feels like that at the neck joint.
The store where I picked up the Guild had a nice Greco LP Standard in stock too. If I didn't already have my beat to hell 90's LP Classic it would have been tempting.

ive always loved those 70's guilds. i've only ever played a few though. the model i really wanna try is the one that david lester from mecca normal used.
i tried the bass version and loved it..... just never came across the guitar version.

Re: NGD - The SG that is not an SG
Been spending some more time with the S100 and finally decided to start playing around with the pickups. Both were pretty close to the strings, and the neck pickup was almost unusable because of how woofy the lot E got.
The neck pickup is now a hair lower than my usual Gibson setup start, 2 nickels between the poles on the bass side and 1 on the treble. Sounds amazing. Rich bass and never harsh treble, full mids that are never honky. Kind of tele like in sound now. It sounds amazeballs when rolling the volume back a bit to clean up a crunchy amp.
The Rio Grande bridge pickup, well, its different. The pic below shows pickup height, and the low E pole piece isn't visible because I had to lower it so much to get balance between the pickups. Even then its a bit louder than the neck pickup. Lots more mids, similar in sound to the bridge pickup in my 498/500 equipped Les Paul Classic, only I can't get the highs to sound shrill (a plus). Good note definition.
The neck pickup seems a bit microphonic, so I doubt its potted. They both sound good, but are very different. Jury's still out if I want the guitar to be modern sounding like the bridge, or "vintage" sounding like the neck.
I'm going to have to rip the guitar apart and figure out what the neck pickup is, then find something that's a better match for it, or at least put a cover on the bridge pickup to tame the output a bit. All I know about the neck pickup is that the poles are rusty and its microphonic.
Still digging the guitar, been playing lots of early 90's grunge and alt rock on it. Love how low the action can get, getting used to the narrower neck. Getting to play it in a band situation for the first time this weekend, i'll see which sound I gravitate to.

Re: NGD - The SG that is not an SG
After perusing reverb I’m kinda shocked that old Guilds are seemingly immune to the inflation the guitar gear market has been experiencing lately. Buying a vintage set neck guitar for under $1,500 has always been a sort of pipe dream but these things are insanely affordable.
My reissue Thunderbird is one of the nicest and best guitars I’ve ever owned, just blown away by the quality of the thing and really hope that they sell a bunch of them and keep doing cool stuff

LOVE IT! Something about those super-flat 70s Guild necks that's really comfy.

Curious if anyone has any experience with the new line of import S-100 Guilds. The look nice and are affordable.
