New Fender Player Plus series missed the mark!
No Jazzmaster or Jaguar in the series was extremely disappointing. I’m sure they are are aware of the popularity of Jazzmasters in particular recently but we only get the boring tele/Strat/basses holy trinity. Would have been the PERFECT platform to give us a WRHB Jazzblaster now that Ranaldo signature Jazzmasters have completely seemed to vaporize and when they appear sell immediately for ridiculous prices. Imagine a Jazzmaster with even cheap WRHB fake pickups that would allow us to upgrade to their new CuNiFe WRHB pickups without routing. Take my money now.

It's the new name and a slight refresh of the Fender Deluxe series.
There were only Strats, Teles & basses in that line.
Nothing to see here, move along...

On the plus (pun intended) side, at least it means no Jaguars or Jazzmasters have to suffer some of the horrific colour options in that series. I'm pretty sure the top to bottom fades amount to cruel and unusual punishment.

Well the blue color was tasteful but yeah beyond that not so much. What prompted this is they put a pseudo small WRHB on a Strat! I thought, man if they just put out a Jazzmaster with WRHB (preferably the big ones) then that would have to do better than their Jazzmaster attempts of putting out versions with standard size shitty fender humbuckers. I guess I will wait for Squier to release it. The Squier brand has seemed to have a better finger on the pulse of the offset fans.

Nothing more than a modern reinterpretation of the "stratoburst" finish of the early '80s:Stephen_42 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 4:07 amOn the plus (pun intended) side, at least it means no Jaguars or Jazzmasters have to suffer some of the horrific colour options in that series. I do love how every "new" color option that Fender comes out with now seems to be lifted from some crazy shit they threw out in the 80's. I'm looking at you dark night!

In the Deluxe Series' history the one shining, glorious offset moment was the appearance of the Cyclone and Toronado in January 1999. Both discontinued in 2006.
(Those are the list prices, btw.)

I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

Hey, I kinda like that bottom one (not sure if it'd really work on an offset though)...matbard wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 5:08 amNothing more than a modern reinterpretation of the "stratoburst" finish of the early '80s:Stephen_42 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 4:07 amOn the plus (pun intended) side, at least it means no Jaguars or Jazzmasters have to suffer some of the horrific colour options in that series. The Toronado and Cyclone were available in white with brown tort pickguards? In-ter-rest-ing...vistavision wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 8:13 amIn the Deluxe Series' history the one shining, glorious offset moment was the appearance of the Cyclone and Toronado in January 1999. Both discontinued in 2006.

I completely forgot about that shade of tort that they used in the late 90s. Does anyone know any current vendors that can make a JM pickguard with that style tort? Would love it on CAR:
