Re: Jimi's got Jazz!
No mention of the nut being changed is a little suspect to me. I know I said yesterday about it, but it still bugs me, man. But I'd imagine whoever buys this isn't buying it solely because it 'was' Hendrix's guitar, but because of it's historical/collector value. That nut looks old though, so if Jimi played it, got it restrung and the nut slotted accordingly ... someone a long long time ago corrected that.

No pictures of the back of this guitar either. If the strap button had been moved to the back side as it seems to have been on the one Jimi is playing in the pictures that would show it.Axolotl wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 3:16 amNot saying it's fake, but the guitar for sale is clearly a slab bord, while the guitar on the photos of Jimi playing (and several others of him playing Jazzmasters) are veneer. You can tell by looking at the headstock. Also the arm rest looks worn in a very different way.
But hey Jimi owned and played more than one Jazzy IIIRC.
It is well known one of them (definitely noy this one) was on Steven Seagal collection.

I'd buy it if shipping wasn't so high.

For $750,000 you'd think they'd pay a photographer a few hundred bucks to get decent pictures of it. Christ.

I think someone probably *might* have used it since 196-whatever...N0_Camping4U wrote: ↑Sat Apr 24, 2021 8:11 pmI thought he would string it up correct for him? Shouldn't the nut dictate that?... I know Dick Dale played a right handed guitar left handed and kept the strings the same - but I was really sure Jimi would restring it.

To me this is the Reverb equivalent of selling "honest-to-god, Guv, absolutely positively genuine" Rolex watches from a trench coat.

Steven Seagal owned Jimi's Jazzmaster and played it regularly. This does look like the same guitar. No idea.sumlin wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 12:54 amI think someone probably *might* have used it since 196-whatever...N0_Camping4U wrote: ↑Sat Apr 24, 2021 8:11 pmI thought he would string it up correct for him? I don't think there is a probably about it. That's a certainty. But I think they would/should have mentioned nut isn't original or that the strings have been adjusted accordingly.sumlin wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 12:54 amI think someone probably *might* have used it since 196-whatever...N0_Camping4U wrote: ↑Sat Apr 24, 2021 8:11 pmI thought he would string it up correct for him? Thirded. Methinks I smell a scam (or as the drummer in my old "serious" band would call it, a scheme) here...

Re: Jimi's got Jazz!
It's cool to see this guitar again.
I saw it 11 years ago in the vault of a high-end retailer in the States. The owner let me hold it. I don't think I even did an open chord on it; I was shitting my pants to not bump into anything while holding it.
Maybe the price is excessive.
Maybe it is Hendrix's guitar. Maybe it's not.
Real experts have already debated the provenance.
Maybe a Clapton-fan lawyer will buy it and never touch it.

Funnily enough a guy on Denmark Street, London, has a gold 1965 Firebird that was Steven Seagal's, selling for £45000.
So I guess Seagal is offloading at the moment.
