New offset project: flat-top Starmaster
new offset project: I got a swamp ash Starcaster-style flat-top semi-hollow from Rosser Guitars
Currently, my plan is to do a single bound top, with tortoise binding and a rose gold/champagne sparkle finish on top and a complimentary stain on the back and sides. I've mocked it up with the parts I have on hand so far; I have new pickups on the way from Curtis Novak, a Thunderbird for the neck and a wide range JM humbucker for the bridge. Additional specs include an AVRI tailpiece, American Pro bridge, bakelite witch hat knobs, CTS pots, Switchkraft switch and jack, a recessed cup style jack mount, lefty WD Stratocaster neck, GraphTech nut & string tree and Wilkinson lefty locking tuners.
Sadly, unless I can get access to a spray booth, I won't be able to finish it until spring, when my unconditioned workspace is warm enough to spray finishes. Still, I'm really stoked for this!

Yes. Not feeling the reverse headstock, but otherwise I dig it.

I’ve been sitting on this for a while, nervous about taking the next step, but I took a leap and routed and formed the binding today. Next, I’ll glue it down, followed by sanding an scraping. After that, it will get a translucent pink stain, with a rose gold sparkle finish on top and a color matched headstock, although I may be shifting away from the reverse strat headstock.

That looks great. I have wanted a Starcaster for a while but don't really dig the reissues. I assume you had to special order that body?
We are merely moving shadows.

I got it from Rosser Guitars last fall. I custom ordered it with a Jazzmaster pickup and bridge configuration and no edge rounding, so I could do the binding.

Nice! I dig the left handed headstock. Supposed to be more ergonomic. Makes sense as you don't need to twist your arm as much.
Without music, life would be a mistake.
