Re: Bloodmoon Jazzmaster aka MBV JM
Guitar body and neck have been shipped to MJT for finishing. This will be a 2 month process.
And also the beautiful pickguard I ordered from Lavaguards has made it. Will post some pics of it this evening hopefully.

Alright, here’s a closer look at the tort. Paul at Lavaguards is truly onto something. Cant tell you enough how pleased I am with this. I took some photos in different rooms to give an idea of the color qualities it has. No photo enhancement edits used.
Here you can see it with a combination of room lighting and the evening winter sun coming through a window. Very rich and deep reds and burgundy:

The picture below is with purely room lighting and here you can see a more auburn characteristics:

Overall, I’m very excited to fit this guard onto the guitar. I’ve owned 2 vintage offsets and have been around others and I’m convinced that this guard is on par with those and actually looks even better than the tort that was on my 72’ JM. Another thing that is great is that I feel this guard closely approximates the guard on Shield’s JM. It even has some similar flare locations. It’s tough to tell as the lighting conditions are such a huge factor when looking at tort.
Now it will be a slow wait until MJT wraps up their end...
I’ve basically accrued everything needed for this guitar up to this point except for an aluminum shield plate and pickguard screws. Still waiting for the neck plate, strap buttons, and string trees to arrive.

Looking forward to seeing MJT's CAR finish on this. Subscribed!
Also, very interesting to learn about that wiring mod, with going 1-meg pots on the other circuit. Great idea.

This is gonna be incredible. I just finished an accidental oly white 60’s lacquer build but it’s not quite right...gotta pick up one of those lava guards and a darker rosewood neck. Who knows, after seeing this, maybe I’ll just rebuild the entire damn thing ![Smiley :)](./images/smilies/smiley.gif)

It can be fun, but also challenging. I was just talking to a friend about how it’s hard to know how it will turn out in the end. That’s part of the fun I guessSynthsinthesky wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 8:24 pmThis is gonna be incredible. Patience is key! I jumped the gun on a few parts and immediately want to replace them. I’ve been in touch with the lava guards guy for a couple months but just waiting on the “right” one. Yours looks absolutely killer. Now to find a 7.25 radius neck with a dark rosewood fretboard (within my price range) ![Smiley :)](./images/smilies/smiley.gif)

How cool that MJT sent you progress pics. Just looking at the non-sanded color on the handle, this looks promising!

Yes, the one I got is my favorite that he’s produced from what I can tell. His prices, even shipped from the UK, are still a lot better than spitfire for now for a guard that looks absolutely great.Synthsinthesky wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 8:14 amPatience is key! Good luck finding a proper 7.25 neck. They’re harder to find nowadays.

Re: Bloodmoon Jazzmaster aka MBV JM
MJT has provided some more photo updates. So far, they’re blowing it out of the park. The shade of red looks very close to what I was aiming for, if not spot on. I cannot wait to get it all together

Re: Bloodmoon Jazzmaster aka MBV JM
That is looking awesome. I know MJT has gotten some bad press, but I have... a lot.... of MJT bodies and I have loved them all. I have one being made for me now that should turn out really cool when they are done.
I LOVE that deeper red. Lovely.
