Noventa Telecaster

Post by del » Thu Jan 14, 2021 5:32 pm

Mercy!
These new single pickup telecasters look fantastic to me.
Such a great lo-tek rock, roll, and rhythm machine!

I'm more intrigued by the maple cap neck. Nice basis for a mid sixties Tele-project.

i'm not really feeling the pickguard shape too much. I would think a cabronita shaped pickguard would look better.

It's a cool looking guitar though.. especially the blond and maple combo. classic fender.

I'm completely smitten with single pickup fender style-guitars

Esquire
Bronco
Musicmaster
And now this Noventa.

I think the Tele Jrs from a few years/decades ago all had stop tail bridges, dual p90s, and set necks. Those are all fine features, but they don't scratch the same itch.

I wish they would do more single neck pickup instruments. I don't really like bridge pickups that much.. 🤔

I have a couple of 1960s Japanese/European import guitars with neck-only pickups, but it's not a common design for modern solidbody guitars at all. I think the old Musicmaster (and maybe some Swinger variant?) are the only models from Fender that I know of.

I’m pretty into it. Interested to see what prices look like once they start hitting the used market.

In the case of Telecasters, buy any Tele with a neck pickup rout you like and put on one of these Glendale plates:

Problem solved! You now have a reverse Esquire.

Pretty much every other model of Fender has a pickguard, so you can just get a guard cut for the neck pickup only.

Easy enough to route the extra cavity , if you own a router.

ok -- if the guitar must have a single pickup (which I never personally liked), what can't that pickup be moved a bit towards the neck? Why does it have to be a pure bridge pickup?

That's a great point.

Because this is Fender's half-ass version of a Les Paul Junior, that's why. Since Gibson hasn't made a guitar that only has a neck pickup that sells enough for Fender to make a Fender version of it, they don't make one.

I don't know why I dislike almost everything Fender tries to do, but man, that company just doesn't have any ideas about anything. Why don't they hire someone?
