Pitbull Guitars FS-1 (Starcaster) Kit Build
Got the kit for Christmas and after playing around with alot of colors, finally took the dive at it last night. Tried my best to get rid of the glue stain.
Gotta tackle the neck today, as well as the sides. Still have do decide on bridge and pickups (want to upgrade from what came with it). Thinking something different for the pickups, Surf90s in white, or 'Trons of some sort, or maybe SilverFoils.
Thought some of you might be interested.

Surf90s would complement the look very well! Nice color!

When clearcoating be sure that the stuff does not yellow or age or you end up with a green guitar

I'll be doing Tru-Oil. It's got a slight color to it, but I think it'll be ok. There's a few layers of color going on in there that the camera isn't picking up.

Looks great! Tru-Oil definitely will make it greener. I have a tru oiled blue one that is that way.

I've used tru-oil a lot, I would NOT sand it, I would buff it with 0000 steel wool then recoat. Just buff off any nubbies.

Re: Pitbull Guitars FS-1 (Starcaster) Kit Build
Some shots of the back in the sun. Ordered some white GFS Surf 90s last night. I've got a set of black rings and a set of white rings, and two different types of white knobs to choose from.
I want to go over the headstock in black I think, but I haven't researched black paint.
Am thinking of Sperzel EZ Mount in pearloid to get some of that white on the headstock. And probably a Schaller Signum bridge.
I want to darken the fretboard.. particularly since the neck is bound and the contrast of dark against white looks better IMO. I had wanted rosewood, but it's a long story (this kit was a gift).
Grr. the glue stains... I should have returned it... but oh well.

I am generally not a fan of dye jobs, especially blue, but something about this one, it just looks right. Well done, looking forward to seeing it in its full dress!
Edit: forgot to say, I like the contrast of the maple finger board, it may not contrast the binding well, but it contrasts the blue wonderfully.
