I've got the short scale bass version and it's great.

Yay, I just bought one!
Only problem is, it's missing the pickups, and a bridge saddle... But the price was good, and for once the shipping + import charges didn't double the total price.
I'm leaning towards putting a pair of humbucker sized gold foils in it, which was something I kinda had planned in the back of my head if I didn't like the stock pickups, and this way I won't have to feel guilty about it. :)

So I found a pretty killer HF that I am guessing is P3 era (maybe P4) but it seems to be a bit of an oddball, at least to me.

It's a sunburst with a flat bound top, factory humbuckers, it is wired in stereo, 2 vol/2 tone, and it appears to be completely stock. What the heck is it?

Sorry no pics at the moment, I'll have them in a few days.

Cool, I've never seen one like that before. Does it say anything else other than Univox on it?

No not that I noticed. I ended up passing on it but it sold on eBay as soon as it was listed.

Lots of great information here, thank you fellas.

I have a HF Phase II and although i like the surf tone, I've been debating replacing my P-90 pick-ups with hum buckers.

So here's my question, would the Eastwood Phase III HB fit into a Phase II HF without any major mods? Are they the same size?
I read somewhere that Eastwood stayed true to the origin HB specifications for HFs.

Thanks

The single coils are much wider than the humbuckers, so you'd end up with something like this (the Eastwood humbuckers are standard humbucker size):

Looks like the mounting tabs had to be bent outwards to make it fit.

An alternative would be to make your own pickup ring with the same footprint, but with a standard HB cutout.

I saw this too - I think it's a custom made body with normal HF neck and hardware...

Did you drill new holes for the bridge cover (as it looks like a Fender-type one)?
I just got a Phase III bass and it's without the cover and the allen bolts that hold the saddles in place are about an inch tall so if you really lay into the bass it just rips your hand apart so I need a bridge cover solution fast!

AFAIK, it's 100% stock.

Yep - the plan is for them to be a production item. I'll post links as things progress...
I really hate to be "that guy" who digs up an old thread, but I have to since I'm very interested in the reproduction HF pickups and haven't seen any new threads for them.
