Greasy fingerprints because it’s impossible to put down, and a de-painted Bigsby because the guitar wasn’t already heavy enough.

My Squier Starcaster with a Duesenberg Les Trem and Schaller Roller Bridge. Bought it right when it came out and love it.

I don't think I've ever showed you my Epi Riviera... another case queen - what a pity, but now I'm happy to have dug it up (thanks COVID).

It's a 1995 model which has been modded to dogear p90s, dunno what brand or so. But feels and sounds great.

...at one time I had added a Bigsby, that's why there's holes in it... :fp: oh well

I now put (temporarily) a black ToM bridge on, since the original one seems very narrow. And I just realized how badly cut the nut it! :derp: might have that one swapped.

So I bought this yesterday. 1999 MIK. Been thinking about SG or LP with P90s, then was considering a 335. Then that auction happened. £515 posted with a hardcase.

What’s the consensus on these things? And what should I expect from a hollow guitar with these pickups?

Casino right? I've played a lot and I find them really quite comfortable because they're so light but never really played all that loud so unsure on if they get a lot of feedback or whatever, the current made in USA ones have the neck/body joint at the 16th fret which really makes it feel more like an acoustic though. You might need to get a spacer for the bridge pickup though I've always felt like most of them have too much space between the pickup and the strings, not sure how it is on the MIK ones specifically though. Seems like you got a really good deal though.

Yeah, Casino. Should have said that.

Most of my playing is mid-gain upwards, so kinda expecting feedback to be an issue. Will see how it goes.

Should have done more research, less bidding. Did a search for lh handed & there’s not many about though.

Not that I’m already thinking about how easy it would be to move it on once I realise I have little use for a P90 hollow body… :D

I remember them being dissed by Larry Mal in another thread, so I'll be interested to hear how you get along with it.

I always wanted a Casino, but bought (a Korean) one at the wrong time, as I was smitten with another hollowbodied guitar at that point, so I more or less plugged it in once and thought, nah, not as good as.... and sold it to a pal some time later for way less than it was worth.

I’m not expecting miracles. Just anything better than the muddy/nonexistent tone that came with an old epi 335 I had for 30 seconds a few years back.

We shall see. Won’t be the first stupid decision I’ve made. Or equally, the first accidentally good decision.

So, the Casino. Apart from the neck being chunkier than I’d like (& I even find some SG necks too thick), it’s so light it feels like a toy. Not sure if that’s a positive or not- probably lead to me throwing it about & breaking it.

More importantly- these P90s are brilliant. They’ve got bite & clarity. Punchy with clean & take heavy drive really well. Slight feedback issues if I just leave it turned on.

Cool sounding guitar.
