I put some Neutrik jacks on one of the 'dead' Vox coily cables this morning, and cut about 6ft of the cable off at the same time. Obviously it came back to life (bad moulded jacks) and in the process sliced the capacitance down to 668pf. No detectable high-end loss now...I think <700pf is the magic number.

I'm so old I remember when all you could buy were the coiled guitar cables... and you didn't need speaker cables since your "normal" channel on your guitar amp was your PA system.
