So any amazing Teles on this thread. Keep it going.

Here's my contribution: two '52 reissues, the 'proper' one is from AVRI series.

This Tele is my favorite telecaster in the world. I must point out that It actually isn’t mine, but it belongs to a close friend at the moment. This guitar has been in my life since adolescence and has stayed in the possession of either me or 2 other friends I grew up with. It is a MIM Tele from maybe the late 90s or early 00s and was picked up by one of my childhood best friend’s father at a pawnshop for $100 bucks. It was originally ice blue metallic and had a Seymour Duncan hot rail in the bridge. It was the first Fender guitar that I ever played and I could not believe how well it played. I was just learning guitar at the time and it left such an impression.

The finish has since been stripped and a very cool repro hand made guard applied. The guitar stays within a circle of 3 friends and there’s kind of a rule that it does not go outside of the circle and if one of us ever buy it back from the other, it never gets sold for more than the $100 price tag that was paid. It still plays very well and now has a more traditional tele pup combo.

Meet the friendship tele

The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

A bit of turbulence in the guitarsenal has meant that I've been without a tele for a little while. But then I ended up buying two new ones on the same day! This is the first one, which will probably get it's own thread eventually. It's a Thinline from 1972 that barely survived the 80s. It's been routed for a Floyd Rose and neck has had a locking nut. And although it's a little bit hard to tell, it's also worth noting that it's a refin.

I took a few pics of my Teles. All are Fender CS except for the sunburst Tele in the back (which is just an old Fender Tele)

I did a poor refin of my highway one Telecaster body, but LPB is such a great color that I still love it!

Talking of Tele refins, I’ve always hated the finish on my squier. The grain almost looks like it’s faked in the finish. Looks nicer in pictures than real life- has a pale/white look to my eye.

I use it for recording. It sounds amazing. As an amateur without the appropriate tools, is it worth stripping & refinishing? I don’t mind a diy looking finish, but is it a lot of effort vs the likely results?

Check out this 1985 MIJ I just bought. It started life Sonic Blue but then took up smoking. It’s unreasonably good for a supposedly low end model.

I will happily take any chance I have to show off my Tele. I adore this guitar. I just built it a couple of months ago. Specs:

MJT Pine Body
MJT Aged hardware
Bootstrap Pickups (Palo Duro Bridge / Pretzel Neck)
WD All Rosewood Neck (Chunky, 1" thick all the way down.)
Kluson Staggered vintage tuners
Souldier Strap (of course) with Dunlop strap locks.

I love that the sunburst fades to brown and not black on this. So goddamn cool. Lightweight too, just over 6lbs.

Started stripping the Tele for a refin. Apart from the fact that I’ve mislaid my soldering iron, just realised it’s routed for a neck humbucker.

I’m definitely more of a Gibson neck pickup fan & it’s the bridge sound that I covet for this tele. Any pros/cons of going for a PAF when I rebuild?
